Can anybody please help me before tomorrow morning?

Am going to London tomorrow, so have access to most places I guess. Will probably go to Regent Street, the Selfridges end of Oxford Street and possibly Marylebone High Street; perhaps Covent Garden - though I suppose I could go anywhere central. Maybe Kensington.

Anyway - things I would like are:

  • some grey ankle boots, with a very slight heel but not witchy looking, possibly biker but don't have to be with a chunky sole, deffo not wedges and must be mega-comfortable;
  • a black and white (or black and grey, or black and beige, or even black and v pale pink possibly), long sleeved, scoop neck t-shirt but decent quality and not one where the neck goes saggy after a couple of washes. I thought that Whistles might be the place for this but so far they have failed me;
  • decent v neck jumpers, possibly in a wool/cotton mix: deffo no acrylic! In good, dark colours like burgundy, purple, charcoal.

Thanks! :)

Desperate bump. Somebody? Anybody?

Go to Uniqlo for the v neck jumpers. They have 100% cashmere for around £50 - 60. They also have cotton/cashmere mix and merino/cashmere mix.
Boden have black and white scoop neck t-shirts at the moment.
I would just order everything online and have a nice time wandering around London rather than pressurised shopping but that's probably just me!

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:14

Ooh had forgotten about Uniqlo. Thank you.

Can't order online as I am a strange size - can be anything from an 8 to a 14 depending on shop and style.

Go in cos, it's not online and tis fab for the clothes side of things. Can't help you on the boots front I'm afraid, a lot of the best ones have sadly departed the shops by now and it is just the dross left unless you have mega bucks.

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:15

No mega bucks, sadly. Will look in Cos because I love lots of things in there but generally it seems designed for the tall and straight and I am short and hour glass.

someone on mn recommended these to me as comfy
have yet to receive them , but they may be instore on london

brimfull · 24/10/2010 21:20

meant to say they come in a greyish colour as well

brimfull · 24/10/2010 21:21

try gap for jumpers and t-shirts

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:21

I like the price of those! Not grey though.

Actually, I suppose the boots could be knee-high but they must be grey.

t-shirt- i would for nicole farhi, i.e john lewis. also saw very nice t-shirts in harvey nicks- sonia by sonia rykiel, think they stock it in selfridges, but not sure, very dark navy with pink stripes, with several twists on the front, which look a bit like hearts- can't explain better, sorry.
v-neck jumpers- john lewis again? they have loads from different brands. banana republic at regent street- check online be4 going though, their collections are so variable all the time.
grey ankle boots- they have grey ankle broques, quite nice ones. pied a terre have these- very nice and very comfortable- www.piedaterre.com/catalogue/style.asp?r=58&g=98&s=785&y=A10LSU46LBC111L&pc=46, they have a shop on king's road, so if you decide to go to harvey nicks, it's only 10 minutes walk away.
hope that helps ;-)

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:24

Gap t-shirt quality has really gone downhill - need something that will be a classic and last me for ages. The last ones I bought in Gap were unwearable after about three washes. Jumpers not bad there though, usually.

"grey ankle boots- they have grey ankle broques"- sorry, meant to say Russell&Bromley, not "they"

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:26

Love those Monsoon ones but they are waaaaaaaaaay too high for me. And I like the Pied a Terre ones too but they are too flat. Sorry!

OP posts:
takingchances · 24/10/2010 21:32

Yes the Monsoon ones are lush. I am a short-arse and need any bit of height I can get so now I am thinking of buying them. Perils of MN, you go looking for things for other MNers and end up buying things for yourself!
Anyway... seems House of Fraser has some good grey ankle boots:

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:35

Sorry but those Radley ones look like something that David Bowie would wear. Don't like the others, either. Sorry.

Thanks ever so for looking though - and I'm glad you've found the Monsoon ones for yourself. :)

Ha ha!! No probs. Am just googling. Of course I don't know your style so am sending you everything I come across... there are LOADS of super high ones and wedges but they are off the list already Smile

SpookilyDoodleydoohoohoooooo · 24/10/2010 21:41

Don't discount Banana Republic, fab for all sorts and good sizing I think too and on Regent Street. Do lots of tops for layering etc round necked lots of goodies!
Good luck, am so jealous!

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 21:45

Love that grey cardigan on the opening page of the BR site. Thank you.
