hah! back on line and discover I've killed the thread!
Anyone any thoughts on what to wear this jacket with?
Oliveoil? what are you sporting?

sparklymieow · 20/09/2005 23:21

I have one from Primark, I wear mine with jeans, skirts, and every thing!! But I am a goth/punk chick so people don't expect me to be normal!

sparklymieow · 20/09/2005 23:24

BTW my dad said the Prince charming joke too

clary · 20/09/2005 23:26

you see Sparkly you are a punk chick aren't you (not sure how I know that?!) so it's easy for you.
I am more of a conservative Gap jeans or Boden linen skirt plus cheapo Primark T-shirt.
Not sure if I wil ever dare wear the jacket...

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:26

I love the jacket will get back to you on how to wear it, although it does look great with the jeans on the advert.

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:30

If I was uber trendy and slimmer I would wear it with cropped trousers and tights and maybe a ballet shoe. But I am not i am slightly plump and 30 so woudl probably wear it with jeans or a heavy long skirt.

sparklymieow · 20/09/2005 23:30

It looks great with jeans and a skinny t-shirt.
pppssssss.... I put in my last message I was a punk chick!!

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:38

I like this look but maybe a bit much for mother and toddlers - not that it ever stops me!

clary · 20/09/2005 23:39

sparkly, sorry, I know you said that about being a punk chick, I meant I already knew it somehow...
Anyway, have just looked for an image of the jacket and foundseveral on ebay including one with bids up to £21...which is £6 more than I paid! Maybe I'm a style guru after all??!!
Right so will try it with jeans to pose down the school run on my day off (!) and maybe with a long winter skirt for work?
(need to find the skirt tho, tricky now as our local Primark has closed, will have to check out Asda)

MrsSpoon · 20/09/2005 23:39

Now that is gorgeous Twinsetandpearls.

clary · 20/09/2005 23:40

twinset, that's what I'm worried about. I mean, will I raise eyebrows if I wear it with jeans to the park?

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:48

I don' think you will raise eyebrows by wearing it with jeans, you may get a few admiring glances but I would revel in it.

When I get mine I will be doing it with full on russian/victorian glamour and am hoping for raised eyebrows!

sparklymieow · 20/09/2005 23:48

I want one of the velvet ones now, I brought mine back in march, and they didn't have the velvet ones in then. I have noticed that i am the only one at the school wearing a jacket like it.... and there is younger mums than me there. Misdee said the other day I am just a bit ambiance (sp??)

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:49

MrsSpoon I have just noticed the skirt is only from Principles, i may check it out. Although having an ample behind I have to be careful with the cut of skirts.

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:50

I have a red wool one in my wardrobe that I bought in TK Maxx last year, has a touch of Chanel Chic about it. I may dust it down.

sparklymieow · 20/09/2005 23:51

I want one of those skirts too, I think a shopping trip is in order......

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:59

Lots of gorgeous inspiration on here

Buddhamummy · 21/09/2005 00:01

Hennes have some great deep red velvet straight skirts in their sale. I snapped one up the other day only for my niece to tell me velvet was de rigeur this season. I felt chuffed all day!

MrsSpoon · 21/09/2005 00:04

Good site Twinsetandpearls, going to have a good look round it, I was very pleased to see that I have outfit no 2 on the list, I feel quite stylish now.

Buddhamummy · 21/09/2005 00:04

Great link, loving that russian inspiration, my hips not loving the full skirt however. But very excitingly did have hair dyed coppery red yesterday, not unlike the girls on link.

TwinSetAndPearls · 21/09/2005 00:05

I love velevet, I have a gorgeus black velvet customised jacket that I bought in the Laden showrooms a few years ago. I wore it the other day and was stopped in the street half a dozen times by people asking where it was from. I may check the skirts out.

TwinSetAndPearls · 21/09/2005 00:08

My hips don't really take a full skirt, I have a gorgeous cord vitoriana skirt from per una last year, glad to see I may still be trendy at no extra cost!

I wore the skirt at Christmas and an elderly relative commented how lovely my skirt was and that how unusual it was to see a bustle - to which i replied that bustle was infact my bum! How he blushed !

Buddhamummy · 21/09/2005 00:09

After said comment form niece i went trawling in narnia receses of spare room wardrobe and found my old jaegar black velvet jacket. Took out the shoulder pads circa 1985 and hey presto puffy type sleeve things. looks good with jeans, sadly cant get it done up over bust anymore but hey ho

TwinSetAndPearls · 21/09/2005 00:10

That site even has a boden link for all you hard core mumsnetters!

TwinSetAndPearls · 21/09/2005 00:11

Most of my jackets can't be done up over my bust. If they do they are far too big around the waste and leave me with no shape. Even Trinny and Susannah advise to buy a fitted jacket a size small.
