Help me find a nice bag for Uni!

I dont normally spend much on myself but I want a nice bag for Uni that will last me yet make me feel funky (well I am going to be surrounded by younger people!)

On a previous thread I was oooohhhhing at this boden bag and then I saw the [[http://www.boden.co.uk/productimages/productHomeLarge/10WAUT_AM132_DBR.jpg book bag]

I really dont want a rucksack although I should has I suffer from a bad shoulder but the car isnt that far from the building so am hoping to steer away from a rucksack as they are so uncomfortable!

Budget is less than £50 ideally. My DP will already shoot me for buying a bag. Think he reckons a Aldi shoppper would do the trick!

I am doing an LLM part time and would use the Boden bag as a handbag. I normally have so many books and files when I go into university that I lug them about in a reusable shopping bag type thing (not an Aldi one usually!). I have a couple of the Cath Kidston for tesco ones plus some sea salt jute shoppers here which i delude myself are quite funky. I tend to keep one bag packed up per module so I am only carrying what I need.

Based on my observation of students you will also need an iPhone and a pair of Uggs. I have both now due to working full time but am mystified how they manage to afford them when student finance is supposed to be so tough!

maryqueenofchocs Am intrigued as to what you are linking to!

Thanks MF. Do you like that Boden bag or do you mean the bookbag. It would a nice treat and then I could get some jute bags.

Seasalt is pretty funky! They had a sale on the other day so I could pop down to get some if its still on.

Uggs and iphone....god Im going to look so uncool.......although my hairdresser has just given me a new funky cut!

[http://www.boden.co.uk/productimages/productHome Large/10WAUTAM132DBR.jpg book bag] link that didnt work previously!

You mean this book bag?

If it were me I would get the satchel for my usual bits and then just carry books and files in cheapo shoppers. This would be motivated partly by the fact that I could use a £10 off code on the satchel but not on the book bag as it is £1 too cheap!

Those seasalt jute bags are 2 for £5 instore if you can get there.

onadietcokebreak · 03/09/2010 14:08

Thank you. Satchel it is then!

I think I have found a voucher code Grin

Next thing is which colour way? I have a turqouise weather coat and a purple one. Arggghh I not usually into fashion - this is very unlike me!

Can pop down to local seasalt before collecting son- may call them first and see what designs they have. (Hate parking hassle in village!)

the topshop bow onw linked to is very cute! you def need uggs and an iphone though to look the part :)

onadietcokebreak · 03/09/2010 14:13

Thank you maryqueenofchoc That first bag from ASOS is sooooo lovely. It is a little expensive and wouldnt go with my coats (and before you tempt me NO I can't afford a new one or can I? Grin )

Maybe I could treat myself to that one if it goes in the sale? Any discount codes for ASOS? Last time I shopped with them I got GHds for £60 Grin Grin

If you are still thinking of the satchel I prefer the chocolate to the navy and it has the added benefit of being in stock - the navy is on a 3 wk delay.

Last post on this thread mentions £10 off £30 codes here

onadietcokebreak · 03/09/2010 14:22

mainegirl you now have me seriously worried..Wink Im a flip flop girl unless its raining heavy! There is no way my calves with fit in uggs! Any alterntives?

OP posts:
MaineGirl · 03/09/2010 14:48

you can get short uggs, but i would just go in exuding natural mature student confidence at not having to run with the crowd and be a yummy mummy! Grin you don't want to look like a sheep.
some gorgeous sturdy leather boots are 100x better than uggs. i have 'robust' calves and swear by duo for fit and comfort.

onadietcokebreak · 03/09/2010 14:52

As soon as you mentioned Uggs I thought that arent really me but its an excuse I can use to get some more Duo boots! Need to lose some weight first as my two duo boots haven't fitted me since the birth of my DS!

Any more suggestions before I order from Boden for the first time?

I think the bag looks like it will last and have decided to go for the chocolate colourway so it doesnt clash with my coats.
