What is your budget?

Lizzylou · 02/09/2010 18:45

I got one in the sale in February, a lovely one which was £60 instead of £130, have used it all summer.
A friend also got a different style/colour at a completely different shop for half price in the New Year sales.
I'd keep an eye out, or have a look on Ebay?

Sorry, I have no idea what is similar!

NL3 · 02/09/2010 18:47

Sample sale on Thursday to Sunday next week at Chelsea Town Hall if you live near London - Mainline start at about £100, etc at about £50. Watch out on ebay from Thursday evening there will be loads of new listings.

Lizzylou · 02/09/2010 18:49

Forgot to say the sale was in a local shoe shop, independent.
I was very unsure but am sold, will be saving some money for next feb and another one I think.

specialsmasher · 02/09/2010 19:53

Thanks for replies!

Budget around £50, I guess.

ebay stuff seems to go near as damnit to real price, and I don't want a really scuffed one... but I do keep half an eye on it.

I so wish I was near Chelsea next week! But thanks for the ebay tip - I will definitely look.

They ARE lovely... sigh...

Whereabouts are you?
I am in East Lancs, my friend bought from a shop in the Trafford Centre, nr Manchester.

Stalk local shops who have them in, am sure you'll be able to pick up a bargain.

specialsmasher · 02/09/2010 20:02

Good idea - there in one stockist in Bristol, where I am. I can stalk...!

John Lewis had some reduced earlier in the summer and the Orla Kiely website had some on sale at the same time. Obv not all patterns will be available in sales but it is worth watching out. Personally I am not that impressed with the bags - I find the shape a bit odd for getting things in & out of mine.

specialsmasher · 03/09/2010 07:36

Interesting, thanks!

All the etc collection were 50% off on the OK website during the summer sale but have disappeared from the site now, presumably to be sold off at the past seasons sale next week. When they made the reduction they had every style in the range in stock so if you had been quick you could have had whatever you wanted. Gallingly p and p is £10 so worth ordering with friends in the winter sale.

I recommend signing up for the e news letter on the OK site - this will give you advance warning of the sale, sample sales etc.

I love my current OK bag, a maxi sling, because it fits so much in, including my lunch bag on work days!

There are some oilcloth bags in boden this season.
This would be £29 delivered if you used a £10 off £30 spend code. Distinctly Boden looking to me, annoying as they do some things that really look like OK rip offs, but if you like the oilcloth effect and practicality this could be a temporary measure.

By the way I am in the North but have London friend going to sample sale for me on thursday - this could be another option if you have any shopping mad friends?

specialsmasher · 03/09/2010 09:39

Thanks so much mysteryfairy - really useful info - obviously a bit galled I didn't have my eye on the ball over the summer...

Checking out Boden one now - thanks again!

smugmumofboys · 03/09/2010 09:43

John Lewis had last season's patterns half price in the summer. Maybe check them out?

specialsmasher · 03/09/2010 09:45

Thanks - checking now.

Love that Boden bag, mf, but it's massive - perfect if a bit smaller, and a good price. Muling over massiveness now..

radley are doing oilcloth bags this season

mysteryfairy · 03/09/2010 10:00

The boden bag is big, but v similar dimensions to the midi sling. I obviously have more tat than you as I couldn't manage in the day with anything much smaller!

I have a boden leather satchel from the summer and when I got it was actually taken aback by how small it was. I think the spot one looks freakishly big on the shot with the model given the dimensions they have posted.

If you need to mull over it in person using a code should give you free returns.
