Urgent help required!!

I'm going out this weekend but haven't got a clue what to wear. I'm going to a bar to see a live band and am in a panic.

I'm 38, 5ft9 n a size 8. Do I go casual, smart casual or glam myself up a bit. Do I wear dress, skirt, jeans, flats, heels, I just need help help help starting from scratch.

I have two children n haven't been out for ages so don't know where to begin.

Help me please xx

Well firstly I would say with your stats it doesn't matter what you wear. To be more help what is your colouring, usual style etc?

I have dark shoulder length hair, normally wear a little fake tan.
I'm usually a jeans Mummy but have been trying to branch out into dresses.
I love skinny jeans but never know where to buy them to get the right fit n also never know the best footwear either.

Just at a total loss x

i'd wear jeans, heels (but only if you feel comfortable in them) and a glam top :-)

Are you going to be standing a lot? What kind of band is it?

Ok , who do you want to look like or admire? If it's just a pub I think jeans are best then you won't feel overdressed. Have you got any nice fitted dark jeans? Also what's your budget?

I like the way Cheryl Cole dresses, but she is younger than me. Also, Jennifer Aniston is always a fave.
I haven't got any nice fitting jeans, I always find I have to wear a belt as the waist doesn't fit properly. Am desperate to find the perfect pair.
Would a blazer be too smart?
Where would I get wedges/heels from?
Its in a trendy pub n its a rock band

Nice jeans , White silky vest and casual blazer would be ok, with a long line necklace .. Dorothy Perkins do nice fitting reasonable dark jeans. New look good for shoes and blazers .

I would wear some nice bootcut/flares. I am tall as weel and find topshop are amazing for them. White t-shirt/vest and blazer. Comfortable flats, usually go to dotty p's for mine as they are cheap and cheerful.

I agree nice jeans and a dressy top and shoes you can have a dance in, if the mood take you

If the blazer is realtively understated then a glam top is fine. What's the blazer like? Am jealous of you being able to wear skinny jeans, you'll look amazing regardless. Topshop do nice skinnies.

You might want to wear boots, people will probably stand on your toes, i also remember the floors being very sticky, and sometimes people threw their drinks over the crowd - you may be served your drink in a plastic cup. It was a few years ago and i remember stressing about what to wear - i needed have bothered washing my hair, all sorts of people were there.

I'd go with skinny jeans and cowboy/biker boots nothing with a high heel and a top suitable for the pub/night out. You're tall and slim and will look fabulous anyway.

Well I've been out n tried MANY pairs of skinny jeans, none fitted right.

Tried on a cream long vest top in H&M with a cropped faux leather jacket, it looked cute, but wasn't 100% sure. I've ended up buying a Firetrap vest dress, didn't know whether it'd look ok with leggings or thick tights. Prob won't wear it at all.

Still stuck, back out again tomorrow, even the shoe search was a disaster, high, flat, wedge, boot, shoe what to get.

oh poor you..why didnt the jeans fit? what body shape are you? the vest and jacket sounds good. What shops did you try? and where are you going tomorrow?

right just trying to think...do you like lace or victorian style blouses..also leather typr shirts are on trend ...any help?

I've tried Next H&M Dorothy Perkins n New Look, but they weren't very big stores, thats why I'm off to another larger shopping centre tomorrow

I prefer vest style tops to long sleeve blouses

Maybe try Zara? My stats are similar to yours and I find that Zara or Mango skinnies and shirts/t-shirts/vests fit beautifully.

I am not sure about that vest as it isn;t something I would wear but if you love it how about a pair of longish cowboy type boots and a denim jacket?
