vintage3 · 13/08/2010 15:23

i1ve seen some pretty negative reviews that have been put up. Did you put in any "PROFANITYS" like boobs Smile

QueuePosition3 · 13/08/2010 15:23

no! strangely

QueuePosition3 · 13/08/2010 15:24

im let down y the amount of cotton knitwear - very odd

kittya · 13/08/2010 15:29

Ive noticed that most of the reviews are below average and mine are up, for a change.

That boyfriend jacket, I dont get it, are they supposed to be long in the arms and short in the body?

purplepeony · 13/08/2010 18:36

Queue please don't use the C word- it is most offensive!
By the way there is a review of the cardi which says it is like a dressing gown- sure it isn't yours?

QueuePosition3 · 13/08/2010 18:55

grr

retracts use of tnuc word

kittya · 13/08/2010 21:00

that jacket looks better once you take the threads out of it and open the pockets.

Well They added my awful review of the Copenhagen Tunic and I described it as appalling! Which it is -sooo thin I honestly was worried that it would tear when I tried it on.
I found this tunic bizarre as it was thinner than the merino tunic that was Spring/Summer.

fivecandles · 18/08/2010 07:59

You do realize that you can shop elsewhere don't you. Just finding it odd that you should order so much stuff from a shop and then criticise it so vociferously. Unless this is some sort of weird entertainment.

carefulwiththataxe · 18/08/2010 09:35

It IS a form of weird entertainment! I love reading the reviews and must just add I AM LIVID THAT THEY HAVEN'T INCLUDED MY REVIEW OF UPTOWN TOP.

batsforlashes · 18/08/2010 13:05

I put up some reviews of the kids clothes this morning and was a bit Hmm about the five days lark and also that they are being very selective about what get put up.

That said mine were all positive this time as I was really happy with the clothes. I think they have improved the colours in the Mini Boden collection from a few years ago- they are not longer dull.

purplepeony · 18/08/2010 13:19

They have removed some reviews which were there- including 2 for the reefer jacket. [hm]
I find this very puzzling. I wonder if they are doing so to maximise sales- the Greenwich Reefer was out of stock for 2 weeks in some sizes- now it's back in stock in all colours and sizes, but no reviews- what does that make you think?

carefulwiththataxe · 18/08/2010 16:37

TBH I think they are in a total muddle this year.......or is there something more sinister going on??

employmentlawquery · 18/08/2010 17:55

As a general rule in life, disorganisation is a better explanation of human behaviour than conspiracy.

fivecandles · 18/08/2010 19:09

Hmm..whatever floats your boat. Personally find it a bit odd to complain so loudly and spend so much time and thought on a company which you CHOOSE to shop from.

josefa · 19/08/2010 09:05

I think the thing is, we choose to buy from them because in the past they have provided fab clothes, decent prices, good quality, fairly fashionable, with reliable sizes. Now however, something is clearly going on - for the past 4 seasons the sizing is all over the place, the last two collections have been vastly reduced (not a lot of loungewear, hardly any skirts this autumn/winter, only two pairs of shorts in the summer - weird weird weird). every season I wait to see if things improve, and take a chance, and every season I'm disappointed. This season, all I've kept is a pair of pyjama bottoms and a scarf!! It's a pain having to go to the post office and expensive too, especially as I live abroad. I've kept all my catalogues for the past few years in order to compare prices and styles and it's just going downhill in my opinion. 6 years ago you could count on really good quality, well made, long lasting, fairly fashion forward pieces - now it's all samey samey or high street lookey likey. Like someone else I prefer Wrap (altho they're not perfect either) and Toastt (v expensive and quite dodgy styles at times!)

i've submitted my reviews and will see if they appear as I was brutally honest too. Some things say they have no reviews and then when you click, they're there! All very odd.

teta · 19/08/2010 09:27

I am in Asia on holiday. There is lots of Boden stuff here in the markets as i believe it is all manufactured in China. The kids clothes looks lovely here[but i will never shop at Boden again because the womens clothes are so bloody[sorry Peony!] awful. The cost of manufacturing has really gone up in China-there is a minimum wage and salaries for professionals are nearly at western levels.Hence the cost of boden has gone up and possibly the quality has gone down[ the quality and sizing has always been variable here in china as the ladies are child-sized].

purplepeony · 19/08/2010 10:07

fivecandles- I don't shop just at Boden. However, they are almost the first to get their winter stuff out- apart from next where I never shop.

That's why I think the thread has started, PLUS it's a mainly online shop and MN is an online forum, so you are going to get people who use the internet a lot posting about it, IMO.

I have shopped with Boden from yr 1- must be at least 10 years ago. I buy the odd top, cardi, pair of plain trousers, and last year a coat. I shun anything appliqued or "fun" or garish print.

I recycle a lot on Ebay and despite what is said here, it sells for very good prices.

My other clothes come from Kew, Jigsaw, tiny bit from White Stuff and some knits from the White Company, and cotton Ts from Uniqlo for £6 each- not Boden's at £17+.

For me, it bridges a gap between mumsy and super trendy- I am mid 50s and what I get from Boden are a few basic staples, which I add to- I even have a cardi from Topshop!

What I don't like about Boden is that they market a lifestyle which I find patronising, and they are expensive- I only ever buy with a 20% discount- and that they do keep churning out the same old styles every season

I still think Boden quality is fine.

josefa · 19/08/2010 10:54

I'm with you PP!
