I need something to wear with this dress for a special occasion. I keep looking at shrugs/boleros, but they're not great are they?

I've ordered this to see what it looks like.

What do you effortlessly glamour folk do if it's going to be a bit nippy? I can't really wear my coat all night in a restaurant...

Sorry about that.
There is a similar top on the Karen Millen website, but with cap sleeves so not sure if it would meet the criteria of keeping you warm.

Hi. Personally,I would stay away from a pashmina. They just are not fashionable, sorry, don't mean to be rude. If it were me,I'd go for a blazer, versatile, classic, goes with jeans, trousers, dresses, skirts, and very hip! Have a peep at these on shop style.

Non-mumsy jacket - in fact loads at NL - balances out the potential 'maturity' of a Phase8 dress.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 18/07/2010 19:49

Or this?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 18/07/2010 19:52

No, this!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 18/07/2010 19:54

Sharper cut.

Has anyone been ordering the grey long sleeved shrug? Just went to order one (LOVE it) and there is now only one left in a size 10....

dont wear blazer. unless special occasion is a job interview or you are over 60

other jackets eg leather / denim / suede are very cool but you will look weird wearing it all night indoors in the summer

shrug / wrap etc the way to go IM not very HO

I take your points about mumsiness.

In fact I am loving this but it is far too £££. I like the exaggerated shape of it. There's a cream miss selfridge one which is a good shape but it's cream, not black.
