Starting one as the WSL began yesterday. Will be interesting to see how the one team without a male team, London City Lionesses get on.

Arsenal are so different to the team that was scoring 3+ goals a game and even 4+ on average at home. What's happened?

I couldn't watch the derby but from the comments we lacked a game plan and urgency. Nobody is happy with the manager but that follows from last season.

Well done today (said through gritted teeth!). It felt like the before times for us when we (Arsenal) would start well, be wasteful (although this time we didn't even create all that much) and then Chelsea would score! 😀😥😤

I could write an essay on this, but essentially it's a gut feeling that we should have a better striker - as in a more prolific and more natural goalscorer than Russo - as our main attacking outlet and that shaping our team and attack around her is never going to get us the league title, much less the title plus attractive football - and not just because of the comparative lack of goals. RS has gone all-in on Russo which has led to lots of other problems, including with our substitutions and our style of play.

I may of course be talking absolute rubbish and I am also hoping that expressing this opinion will operate as a sort of reverse jinx!

Regarding Man City, it's hard to predict. We could get hammered or we could raise our game and make it a very tight contest. They have surprised me by wearing the mantle of champions so lightly. And they have impressed me by just getting the job done even when lots of changes are made in the side. There's a lot of clarity about the players' roles, great balance as well. Mead is turning out to be an excellent signing. It's so painful for me watching players I adore (Mead and Pelova - and Miedema for the last two seasons) turning out for other teams and not only performing excellently, but looking so happy!

I'm an Arsenal fan too. So not happy today.

Yes, something is wrong. I'm not sure why Russo is seeing so little of the ball.

I'm hoping it is just that the new players haven't gelled yet but lots of teams have got new players and they all seem to be doing just fine.

I also think that football is quite a lot of luck as well as skill and we are not having much luck at the moment and that the laws of the probability mean that it will be our turn soon.

The worst thing is that Renee really thought that we were going to win the league this year. She said it was her strongest team ever.
