Anyone else already getting excited & assuming the weekend is going to be a write-off?
Working today but have 5Live commentary on for now, was already late waking up kids & getting in the shower.
Love the Ryder Cup so much!
Go Team Europe!

Europe off to a fabulous start. Currently up in all 4 matches. How fabulous would it be for Europe to have 4 points after the first round. Don't think it's ever happened before. Not getting carried away though. Just enjoying some fantastic golf.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 29/09/2023 09:09

It would be amazing to get all 4 points & looks good so far but I'd take 3-1.
Of course we are usually stronger than USA at Foursomes.
Didn't realise we got to choose the order of foursomes vs fourballs - could be a master stroke from Luke Donald changing it.

Indeed. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get the first point, probably from the top game.

Roselilly36 · 29/09/2023 09:18

Yep, loving it. The Ryder cup and the Masters are my favs. Wasn’t the Solheim fab too.

SphincterSaysWhat · 29/09/2023 09:29

The Solheim was so good, we're genuinely considering going next year (Florida) it's only that it's school start time (so can't ditch the kids/bring with)...

makeminealargeoneagain · 29/09/2023 11:01

What a fantastic morning for team Europe.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 29/09/2023 12:13

Fab morning. Fingers crossed for the pm. I've got a bet on for a tie. (Won my bet this morning)

Fabulous morning for Europe. Managed to fit in a gym session between morning and afternoon sessions

piscofrisco · 29/09/2023 12:36

Incredible scenes! Hope they can carry it on this aft

piscofrisco · 29/09/2023 13:26

Bit closer this afternoon 😬

piscofrisco · 29/09/2023 17:45

Great first day! Well done Justin Rose

makeminealargeoneagain · 29/09/2023 17:45

Wow what a performance from Europe. Justin Rose great putter, great pick.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 29/09/2023 18:59

What a fab afternoon. Much tighter but exciting as it swung back and forth.
Will watch highlights later coz I was dipping in and out of radio commentary (which was excellent - am a huge Chappers fan)

Yes!! A thread on the Ryder Cup😁

I saw the very start before I had to head off to work, caught up with the score at lunchtime and was really pleased to hear end of day position. Am now eating pizza and watching the highlights before tee off tomorrow morning.

I get the feeling something is definitely not right behind the scenes in the US camp and thought that right from the get go when I was watching the player /media conference yesterday, they seemed very lack lustre. Any one else thinking similar?

BIWI · 29/09/2023 20:38

What a day!

Also very nostalgic - I took DH to the Ryder Cup when it was in Paris, to celebrate his 60th birthday, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. (Especially as Europe won)

Unfortunately we're out all afternoon/early tomorrow, at a music gig - booked before we thought to check the dates - so opportunities to watch will be very, very limited Sad

StormzyinaTCup · 29/09/2023 20:49

I bet that was great BIWI. I tried to get tickets for DH 40th birthday back in 2006 when it was in Ireland, we went into a draw but unfortunately weren't selected. I'm not sure if they still allocate tickets that way as haven't tried again since then?

Enjoy your music gig 🎶

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 29/09/2023 21:00

Oh I bet being there was incredible @BIWI
I only really watch the Ryder Cup on the Masters.
Took my dad to play on the Ryder Cup course at Celtic Manor last year for his 70th birthday which was exciting.
I've volunteered for dd2's gymnastics instead of dd1's football tomorrow am & then kids will be out for the rest of the day so I can do the housework with it on.
This time tomorrow we could have won it....(unlikely but a girl can dream)

I've got my days muddled up - it's Sunday, the final day, when we're out Sad

It would be fab if it was all finished tomorrow though!

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 30/09/2023 07:07

Wow - starting the way we finished yesterday. Exciting! Clean sweep today & we've won it....
Trying to get my 12 year old engaged

Victor Hovland is a star

BIWI · 30/09/2023 10:00

I thought I was watching a replay of Day 1 when I turned the telly on this morning!

Absolutely astonishing play.

Chemenger · 30/09/2023 10:35

Just to make you jealous I am currently sitting behind the 12 th green. My 4th Ryder Cup. The atmosphere is fantastic.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 30/09/2023 10:40

That's fab and super committed time & money wise @Chemenger - all European ones?

OP posts:
Chemenger · 30/09/2023 10:42

All European. I don’t fancy the American ones because the US fans are frankly horrible there. No notion of being sporting.

Chemenger · 30/09/2023 10:43

This is the best organised one I’ve been to, Paris was a shambles and Celtic Manor was literally knee deep in mud.
