At the moment it's pre-season testing and they are in Bahrain as that is where the first race happens

Is anyone watching the preseason testing at the moment?

Anyone follow the WTF1 personnel change over the past few weeks (social media channel) and that Tommy & Matt have set up P1 with just Matt & Tommy as co-owners?

I'm really looking forward to seeing what progress the other teams have been able to make since RBR had their wind tunnel time reduced due to their overspend in 2022 (that was their punishment for doing that).

Happy to see Sainz on the podium. Sick of seeing Verstappen win. I can't stand him or the creep that is Horner.

RB absolutely will not allow their 2nd driver to challenge Max at this point, one of the main things keeping Lando away I think

No, Verstappen would have a tantrum if they did allow it

Brazilianadventure · 03/09/2023 15:57

@Sulusu I’m not totally sure about DR either but who else?

I think the McLaren stint messed with DRs head & driving style. The broken hand was bad luck. Hopefully he can do the last few races with AT and show if he is capable of being no 2 better than Perez.

Sulusu · 03/09/2023 15:58

Might be controversial but I think Piastri is better than Norris.

After our three world champs, I would rate Russell and Piastri highest. Le Clerc and Norris are being shown up by their co-drivers this year, even though they seem to benefit from team priority over Sainz and Piastri.

Liam Lawson so far is also really impressing me. Great drives from him in his first two races.

Brazilianadventure · 03/09/2023 16:02

Michael had the same preferential treatment as Max, compared to Lewis who has always been challenged by his team mates up until they could no longer win.

It’s one reason I respect Lewis and put him ahead of Michael. Michael was a great but like Max he was ruthless e.g. taking the win from Rubén’s and then years later nearly putting him in the wall in a really dirty move.

Brazilianadventure · 03/09/2023 16:07

@Sulusu I agree, I can see Liam the AT next year.

Oscar is also pushing Lando hard, I know Lando was slightly quicker today but he has far more experience.

I’ve always rated Carlos but realised when he got to Ferrari whilst he is good he is not exceptional. Today he was tenacious, robust and didn’t crumble under the pressure.

Brazilianadventure · 03/09/2023 16:35

Just seen Lewis being interviewed, said it was his mistake and he had already apologised to Oscar.

MabelWotsits · 04/09/2023 12:56

I think Christian has his eye on Oscar, he's said some very complimentary things and I think he will be in the 2nd car as soon as they can sort it.

I think Albon will be a favourite for Maclaren to take his place.

Race week again.

DR in the paddock but not racing and no media - I have a horrible feeling his hand is going to be a long recovery. I just hope he makes it back by Las Vegas seeing as he suggested it in 2017.

I am also interested what they are going to do about Helmut Marko and his racist comments. Others have been banned for less and RB are exceptionally quiet on this.

2023Hope · 16/09/2023 15:14

At last red bull having a bad day !

Brazilianadventure · 16/09/2023 15:26

I wonder if the new Technical Directives have found and curbed the RB advantage?

burblish · 16/09/2023 16:02

@Brazilianadventure DH was just saying exactly that - can’t be a coincidence that both Red Bulls underperformed today.

mydogisthebest · 16/09/2023 17:28

Hopefully means we won't get the procession tomorrow with Verstappen leading it again. A different winner will be great news.

Horner's face was a picture. I laughed out loud when the camera went to him

GrouchyKiwi · 16/09/2023 17:36

George has a pretty good chance tomorrow. Wouldn't it be ace if it's a Mercedes 1-2 (for the fans in the thread). Ferrari bound to screw it up again for their drivers, poor chaps.

I would love Lewis to win at least 1 race this year but would also be happy to see George win.

I wouldn't even mind if Ferrari win. Anyone really other than RB

VooVooV · 16/09/2023 18:41

A-bloody-mazing quali. I literally cheered at the telly after Q2!

Whyjustwhy123 · 16/09/2023 19:57

Watching highlights on C4.

FadedRed · 16/09/2023 20:10

Give young Lawson 10 points for today - well done mate!

He definitely deserves a pay rise after Max dropped into the bottom 5 in Quali2!!!

It just goes to show how mixed up the rest of the grid really is when you take RBR out of the equation.

Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Haas all right up there.

I think Max might be in a bit more trouble what with the impeding in the pit lane and also out on track. Might end up with either a reprimand or even a grid drop

OP posts:
LookItsMeAgain · 16/09/2023 20:38

I also think that the FIA giving Helmut Marko a reprimand/warning for his comments about Checo yet the RBR team still not saying anything or calling him out on his comments both speak volumes.

By this I mean if it hadn't been a race weekend, would the FIA have done anything or taken any action as they hadn't up to Thursday.
The fact that RBR hasn't called out Marko for his comments (which he's made a very feeble apology to Checo about)...I just don't get it.

I keep saying it, I honestly believe that Checo would have been better taking a year off (and staying healthy or moved to a different discipline of motor sport) rather than taking the second seat in RBR as in my opinion, that team is toxic. I think Seb has shown that when he was in the RBR stable he was obnoxious but when he moved to Aston Martin, he blossomed and people who were very anti-Seb really warmed to him. I know plenty will have loved Seb from the get go but a lot of fans really hated his arrogance and his 'finger'.

@LookItsMeAgain I agree Christian saying Marko is not a RBR employee and that is why they haven’t made a statement is disingenuous as he is a Director. RBR have always been slow to call out racism e.g. after Silverstone 2021, after Piquet’s comments, after Juri Vips twitch comment etc.

I am disappointed that the FIA did not impose a paddock ban on Marko for at least a race or two.

I have always believed there was (and still is) racism underlying the AD2021 decisions.

Lewis is the only black driver in 74 years and out of over 750 drivers. Yet in 2016 Max was described by a current Steward as the “Great White Hope” (09/06/2016 Chequered Flag Podcast).

I also agree RBR is toxic unless you are the chosen lead driver.

Sulusu · 17/09/2023 10:39

I can't believe Max didn't get a penalty for any of the three incidents yesterday, especially the impeding one. Apparently no one from Alpha Tauri turned up to the stewards meeting about Max impeding Yuki. This just highlights the inconsistency from the stewards, and the problems with Red Bull having a second team.

Doesn't surprise me sadly. Any other driver would undoubtedly have got a penalty.

Nanasueathome · 17/09/2023 14:52

oh, george

Brazilianadventure · 17/09/2023 14:52

Just been able to watch the last 5 laps. Poor George but so pleased for Sainz, Norris, Lewis and Lawson.
