At the moment it's pre-season testing and they are in Bahrain as that is where the first race happens

Is anyone watching the preseason testing at the moment?

Anyone follow the WTF1 personnel change over the past few weeks (social media channel) and that Tommy & Matt have set up P1 with just Matt & Tommy as co-owners?

I'm really looking forward to seeing what progress the other teams have been able to make since RBR had their wind tunnel time reduced due to their overspend in 2022 (that was their punishment for doing that).

So now we can have raves ending ons after car...fml talk about sticking knife win even more over Abu Dhabi!

Unbelievable

gingercat02 · 02/04/2023 14:15

What a bloody shambles! Honestly FIA sort the actual rules out. No one seems to know what is meant to be happening from one day to the next never mind race to race

Exactly. Today has just shown how the decision back in Abu Dhabi was so wrong. Now we can finish a race under safety car. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

gingercat02 · 02/04/2023 15:07

But that's the actual BS about this mornings race. It didn't finish under the SC officially (even though it did!) The SC had pulled off, so the last dash from the restart to the finish line was normal racing but no one was allowed to overtake.
That's total bollocks.

Brazilianadventure · 02/04/2023 15:10

Exactly, it was a safety car finish but it pulled to one side just before the finish line. Just like Monza 2022 and what should have happened in AD2021.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/04/2023 17:34

I have a number of questions but the biggest one is this.

What on God's green earth was Michael Masi doing back in the Formula 1 paddock???

I am 100% with Ted Kravitz on this. There was absolutely no reason in the world for him to be there this weekend. None.

It is. I am in agreement here too.

They may not have been lead around the final corners by Bernd Maylander, they were under safety car conditions (where no one could overtake) and then the chequered flag came.

This is how AD21 should have finished but didn't.

I really feel for Carlos Sainz (for the 5 second penalty) and for George Russell (for the reliability issue) today. Alpine were doing really well too and then for that restart accident.

I'm actually very concerned that very soon drivers will not have their tyres heated using the blankets and more and more accidents will happen involving over/understeer in the cars because the tyres are not up to temperature. I think the FIA will have to look at this again, and the sooner the better.

Oh yeah first day Massi is back in paddock and all hell breaks loose on the rules. I know he isn't involved anymore. But you know sheer coincidence he is back on the paddock and there is a controversial ruling lol

Tilda77 · 02/04/2023 18:43

Good result for Lewis. So disappointing for so many of the drivers today. Happy that Checo managed to get some good points so that gap at the top doesnt get too big! I got up to watch it but dozed off at some point and woke up just before they went back for the 'parade' lap at the end. I had no clue what was happening but neither did anyone else. I had to watch it again a bit later to try and make sense of it...Still doesn't make much sense😅

Whyjustwhy123 · 02/04/2023 19:01

@LookItsMeAgain yep Ted was not impressed!

Thanks to you MN F1 fans I’m starting to slowly get more knowledge about it.

I find it hilarious I’ve got into F1 (my DH is very baffled) but I love the politics of it and the characters.

Oh and as today demonstrated the drama both in and off track.

Spectre8 · 02/04/2023 19:12

I had to laugh at the commentators afterwards about Veratappen having a tantrum over Hampton apparently pushing him off the track and they were like er this is what verstappen has done himself many time left no room and drove within the limit. Glad they don't pander to that man child. Just makes him look like an utter idiot. Crying wolf.

Brazilianadventure · 02/04/2023 22:21

@Spectre8 I laughed too, remember the rule was changed because of Max’s aggressive driving in 2021 particularly against Lewis at the starts.

It's RACE WEEK again....finally!

OP posts:
Tilda77 · 25/04/2023 15:38

Yes, Finally! Has been a long 4 weeks!
Looking forward to it and a sprint race weekend too with a possible new format of how the weekend is run.

gingercat02 · 25/04/2023 17:23

Seems like ages since the last race.

I have never been a fan of the Sprint weekends and this seems just more points for the big teams, with even more damage risk and ££££ for the little ones but we'll see how it all pans out.
More racing is good I guess 🤷‍♀️

I have stuff on on Saturday so probably won't watch live but will deffo be watching the race live. Baku is one of my favourites

Brazilianadventure · 25/04/2023 21:49

Yay, it’s been a long 4 weeks.

SkyF1 reporting there will be 2 sprints but it sounds to me like 2 qually’s.
Friday - FP1 then qually for Sunday’s race
Saturday - sprint shootout (qually)for sprint starting order, then sprint
Sunday - race

FuckeNell · 26/04/2023 10:13

Very nice! Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking? F1 merchandise is so expensive but I fancy something like that for my birthday.

Finally race week again it feels such a long break from F1!

Not sure what to think about the new weekend format with the qualy on Friday and the sprint being separated. Will wait and see how it feels watching it all.

Brazilianadventure · 26/04/2023 11:57

@FuckeNell have an amazing time - where are you sitting?

Brazilianadventure · 26/04/2023 12:03

@DayToNight did you decide to take the tickets for Silverstone?

FuckeNell · 26/04/2023 12:42

Thanks! I'm off to Dubai so I will also have a t shirt in my hand luggage. I have a pic from when I got it let me look - its not a great one I'm afraid - the top is oversized and drop shouldered
