Can anyone point me to the thread?

Or if not is anyone watching.

Didn't see the first half; what was Steward sent off for?

Direct contact with the head of Hugo Keenan.

There's debate about whether it was a harsh call but (possibly unsurprisingly!) I agree with it. It was really dangerous, he has a responsibility to manage his actions in impact situations.

duc748 · 18/03/2023 19:42

Thanks. I was assuming there'd be a highlights show later tonight on BBC, but apparently it's not till tomorrow.

I think it was, not deliberate, seconds to decide.

It wasn't a great match but we won and that's the main thing. I thought the red card was very harsh. All credit to the English players who came out fighting and really put us under pressure, even when they were down to 14 men. It could have been a very different result if Steward hadn't been sent off.

Anyfeckinusername · 18/03/2023 23:38

We were the better team by far, but I didn't enjoy that! Congrats to us, and our beautiful boys in green!

duc748 · 20/03/2023 14:30

Seen the red card incident now. No intent, but not surprised by the red, and think it's fair enough.

Congratulations to Ireland, and Wigan legend Andy Farrell! 🏉

I'm not knowledgeable enough to make a judgement but the complete and utter rugby head dh said the red card was harsh.

massistar · 21/03/2023 10:08

I felt for Freddie Steward as I don't think it was intentional or malicious but in the context of trying to protect players it couldn't be anything else really.

Some players just get it wrong, it wasn’t intentional but Freddie’s timing was way off, red card, he gets 3 matches rest then back to work.

rioseco · 22/03/2023 11:02

@Crazykatie
Wrong

LadyEloise1 · 22/03/2023 14:56

So dh was right. It didn't warrant a red card. He felt it was totally unintentional.
I hope Hugo Keenan is ok.

Red cards don't fully depend on intent, though. It's a factor, but who can determine intent with any certainty anyway? In this case, it was a high-speed collision happening in a split-second.

The referee and TMO thought it was and he got sent off, he was very lucky not to get a further penalty, that’s rare, so very pleased he’s back playing with Tigers.

Is anyone watching the Women's 6 Nations? England play Scotland tomorrow and its on BBC2!!!!!! Never thought I'd see that in my lifetime!!

massistar · 25/03/2023 07:56

Yes will be watching although England are so far ahead in terms of professional development I fear it'll be very one sided!

HewasH2O · 25/03/2023 11:23

Although all the squad now have professional players and the English clubs have a decent sprinkling of players from other 6N, so perhaps the tide will start to turn. It's only a couple of years since the English league was dominated by Sarries and Quins, whereas now it has opened up.

HewasH2O · 25/03/2023 11:25

All the squads...

Weepingwillows12 · 25/03/2023 11:31

I will be watching but today am watching my kids play so miss the first ones. Will watch this evening and also try and catch repeat of the Quins game if it's on.

HewasH2O · 25/03/2023 11:34

Quins is on BT Sport & ITV (not sure which free to air channel). Quins still don't have players like Louis Lynagh and Tyrone Green back, so they are likely to suffer today.
