Woohoooo it's finally here Smile.

2023 world championships kick off tomorrow at 7pm.

I know this thread doesn't normally get busy until closer to Christmas but thought I'd get it started!

Any particular players or dark horses you are looking out for? I'm looking forward to seeing how Beau Greaves and Josh Rock get on. Also hoping Michael Smith does well again especially now he's finally won a title.

Bumping for anyone who may see this as they settle in to watch it start tonight...

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 15/12/2022 18:50

I'm well excited. Think it's an open field this year, I'd love to see Barney do well, and one of the new youngsters - Beaus had a great year and Rock had come through strongly.

I think it might be MVGs year though

Spenn · 15/12/2022 19:03

I hope Beau does well - she's better than the one that they focus on all the time.... I think the premier league spots are quite open this year (apart from the top 4) so it'll be interesting to see who does well at the palace.

I have a soft spot for Noppy but also interested to see how some of the others that have played well on the floor this year- Josh Rock and Scott Williams have had a good year, the latter without a tour card!

Also some of the oldies have had a resurgence - Barney, Gilding and Beaton have all played well recently.

I'd like to see a new winner but I suspect that it may well be MVG again

AllyPallyWally · 15/12/2022 19:03

I'm even more excited than usual as we are actually off to Ally Pally for one of the sessions this year Grin.

I think you may be right about MVG, I've put a couple of quid on Michael Smith to win purely because I did the same last year and was able to cash out for £100 during the final!

@Spenn yes I don't generally mind that Sky push Fallon Sherrock so much but I think Beau will go on to be much better

AllyPallyWally · 15/12/2022 19:13

Wow hadn't realised Josh Rock was 16/1 as outright winner!

Favourites are Peter Wright, Gary Anderson or Michael Smith.

Love a bit of Barney now hes back 😊

cptartapp · 15/12/2022 19:29

Following. Christmas has begun!!

Nat6999 · 15/12/2022 19:30

Been watching since 6.00pm, looking forward to watching Peter Wright later on, Gerwyn Price, Michael Van Gerwin & Michael Smith are top 3 favourites, I'd be happy if either Peter Wright, Michael Smith or Rob Cross won it.

Tequilamockinbird · 15/12/2022 19:43

I'm rooting for a Callan Rydz as he's a local lad.

Love Gary Anderson and also Barney though.

AllyPallyWally · 15/12/2022 20:17

Anyone else thinking Mansell had had maybe one or two drinks Grin

Spenn · 16/12/2022 13:34

I think most of them are half cut 😂 Peter Wright was amazed last year at Ryan Searle playing as he's tee total (and has very poor eyesight 🤣) 🎯

AllyPallyWally · 16/12/2022 20:58

Been on my Xmas do today and just got home in time for Beau, it's a shame she's not managing to finish well

OP posts:
AllyPallyWally · 16/12/2022 20:59

@Spenn yes it always amazes me that Ryan Searle doesn't wear glasses!

AllyPallyWally · 17/12/2022 15:12

Come on Souts!

OP posts:
AllyPallyWally · 17/12/2022 15:40

Wow what a performance and what a finish for Soutar.

Fallon played well and was unlucky in a couple of games.

Glad to see Barney come through well

AllyPallyWally · 21/12/2022 15:40

Yes happy for Barney!

I just managed to sneak the Rydz v Rock match on whilst working, great performance from Rock, I think a lack of confidence was getting to him at parts though.

Hoping everyone had a lovely Xmas, sat routing for Rock again!!

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 28/12/2022 17:20

Last couple of days have been absolutely gripping. Interested to see how MVG does tonight.

Was disappointed for Barney last night. Have always followed his career. So pleased for Josh Rock and Alan Soutar. I also have a soft spot for Johnny Clayton. Thought Kim Huybrects was very humble last night.
