F1 2022 Discussion Thread

After many weeks and months of waiting, we finally have an F1 discussion thread on MN!

Anyone who wants to join is welcome - regardless of how long you've been watching the sport or who you support. My only request is that we keep it respectful even when criticising our favourite driver's rivals.

We're in Barcelona this weekend for round 6 of what has been a thriller of a championship so far. I'm really excited to see how the race unfolds today, if overtaking will prove as difficult as it historically has here, if the Mercs have done a step forward in race pace, how RB and Ferrari will play around with strategy and tyres.

I'm torn between cricket and F1 today!
I've always liked Seb and I was a big fan of Michael Schumacher from early on in his career when he wasn't popular. I'm not sure I can forgive him for what he did to Damon but... anyway, I hope he's doing as well as possible.

I really hope he's ok. They're usually keen to communicate to everyone watching as soon as they know someone's alright but it feels ominous.

I remember Martin Brundle saying the halo was a terrible idea when it was first introduced. It's definitely saved quite a few lives now. Martin was humble enough to say he was wrong a couple of years ago.

Have just read that there was also a track invasion on the first lap! Can you imagine how terrible that could have been?! Hope they're banned from F1 for life.
