The lighting of the cauldron is always my favourite bit, rather emotional here.

I always cry when it's extinguished.

I think it was very appropriate, which never means exciting. Some lovely moments though.

The pictograms were so cleverly done.

I really enjoyed the pictograms - very clever - and the drones were impressive.
Still not sure about the Team GB outfits which I found vaguely reminiscent of the cartoon parts of Mary Poppins, crossed with a butcher's apron. Probably better than the US kit though. They just needed bags labelled "swag" to complete tge cartoon burglar look that the designer was clearly going for.

I can't get play back as not in UK but I would love to watch the best bit (Imo)

If anyone can help. There were three people dressed in blue (and white) bodysuits and made themselves into logos. Don't know if that makes sense. I've been searching you tube.

So they had freeze shots of judo etc. Blue and white

They were called pictograms, no doubt they’ll be on YouTube tomorrow so I would just search for it using that term

Fantastic!

Just watched the BBC highlights at 7.30, and I must say I was very under-whelmed. I suppose they had to make the most of things with out getting too close to each other, but the lack of spectators really showed.
I've only just realised too that Japan is 8 hours ahead of us so we're going to stay up all night to watch anything live 😒😴

I was underwhelmed by the highlights. It must have been difficult though to plan an opening ceremony in the current pandemic though, so I feel a bit guilty that I didn't like it as much as other ceremonies.
The drones were brilliant though.
