Cambridge, England (specifically on Parker’s Piece a public park) is the birthplace of the rules of Association Football (FA rules). It’s where the modern game of football was born, not Eton.

There is nothing to commemorate this connection in the city which I’ve always thought odd. But the university effectively runs the city as a major landowner, and football is a working class sport. So I suppose that explains why. Any other city/ town would be shouting about this!
