F1 silly season

It's getting very silly now with these rumours of Alonso going to Red Bull- can't see it happening. I hope it won't be Kimi either. Seb needs a good number 2 behind him, someone that won't challenge him for the championship. I reckon Ricciardo is Red Bull's best bet.

Oooh just found this thread just in time for monza its going to be amazing

HilariousLotus · 04/09/2013 07:49

I just have visions of Daniel in spanx having to breath in the whole time he was in the car ... Is it bad to say it makes me smile a lot !!

So with Daniel at RBR and Ferrari for some very insane and bizzare reason wanting to keep Massa it looks like Kimi is staying at Lotus

HilariousLotus · 07/09/2013 14:36

Its not a good sign when Alonso says over the radio that his team is stupid and cost him his qualifying ... Maybe he is trying to get fired?

EauRouge · 07/09/2013 14:38

Bit of an odd quali! My race prediction is going to be all kinds of wrong, yet again Hmm Should be a good race tomorrow.

OP posts:
MrsJaqenHgar · 07/09/2013 15:00

FFS Ferrari! Every year they try that towing thing and every year Massa makes an arse of it because he won't do his job as a second driver. When will they learn? The Ferrari garage will not be a happy place this weekend.

Very odd quali indeed. Inevitable Vettel win tomorrow but all to play for on the other podium places, I think.

HilariousLotus · 07/09/2013 15:11

Pat Fry said that Massa had the right distance to Alonso so i don't think Massa is to blame for this one although i agree with you the Ferrari garage is not a place i would want to be and not because of Massa its because of Alonso i mean who is there right mind calls the whole team stupid when Luca Di Montezemolo is in the building and its the home race of your team ... I'm not getting an acceptance to mensa anytime soon but even i know thats a bad thing

My race prediction for winner is going to be on the money because i picked Vettel after watching fp1 but the rest of mine is going to be off because Kimi didn't even make it into quali 3 and that Lotus has looked horrific this weekend but i'm glad that Nico H got into third place he looked genuinely surprised though hopefully this helps him move up the grid especially with Sergei Sirotkin getting a Sauber drive next year if he gets his super licence

EauRouge · 07/09/2013 15:44

I picked Vettel to win but I think I had Hamilton 2nd or 3rd. Still, you never know! We should start our own MN prediction league next season.

Apparently the Italian words for 'idiot' and 'genius' sound very similar.... Grin

OP posts:
MrsJaqenHgar · 07/09/2013 16:27

Maybe he did say 'genius'. As in 'what genius came up with this strategy?' Grin

Do you think Alonso wants the team to do what they did with Kimi in 2010, i.e. pay him not to drive for them next year? He's already had run-ins with management this year for bad mouthing the the team so his comments today (in Italian, at the Italan race where the Ferrari brand is sacred) will go down like a fart in a spacesuit.

HilariousLotus · 07/09/2013 16:43

The whole thing is either "Felipe is too far -pause- you are stupid you ruined my qualifying Mamma mia guys" or "Felipe is too far -pause- you are a genius you ruined my qualifying Mamma Mia guys " which one is more likely?

I think he is trying to get fired i mean it did work for Alain Prost and lets be honest Alonso has said some pretty bad things this summer about his car so i think he is either trying to get a pay off or is going to take a sabbatical for a year to run his cycling team

Also just want to highlight that if Vettel had said this he would be vilified and yet thats not the tone of the tweets/article being posted when it has Alonso at the center .... i'm not even a big Vettel fan half the time i think hes a idiot it just annoys me the double standards

HilariousLotus · 07/09/2013 18:00

"Caught up in an amusing press scrum with Luca di Montezemolo just now. He shouted at Alonso to ask if he was driving for Marussia next year?

Okay so the lead up to the race tomorrow is going to be amazing

MrsJaqenHgar · 07/09/2013 18:11

Grin at driving fro Marussia next year.

God, I wish I spoke Italian...team radio tomorrow could be priceless!

HilariousLotus · 07/09/2013 19:03

Ferrari will name there drivers for 2014 after Monza and now who knows if Alonso will even be on that list

I haven't looked forward to a pre show or a race this much in ages its going to be amazing especially because Di Montezemolo also said Alonso needed a bit of father/son discipline which made me envision Alonso being taken over the knee of Luca

sarcasticrobot · 07/09/2013 19:52

its a bit naughty that they did not air the part where fernando said thank you to the team and felipe

EauRouge · 08/09/2013 15:39

More booing! Poor Seb, that's not on at all.

OP posts:
HilariousLotus · 08/09/2013 15:56

The booing is annoying me a lot more now because i keep feeling bad for Seb and i don't like him that much but he really doesn't deserve the amount of booing he is getting

He is the best driver in the best car and i understand that no one likes to see anyone run away with the title but Adrian Newey designs the best cars its inevitable really

The interview with him on the bbc i think it was where he was asked about the booing just makes me think he needs a cuddle

EauRouge · 08/09/2013 16:15

Poor guy, you could see he was trying not to look upset on the podium. Fair enough, boo someone if they cheat, but don't boo them for being good. It's shit boring to watch when the same guy wins all the time but that's why they're in F1 in the first place- to win.

The thing I worry most about is Bernie coming up with some mad new rules to make the race result less predictable. Qualifying to be run on unicycles from 2014....

OP posts:
HilariousLotus · 08/09/2013 16:51

This is my rant about the whole thing but Mercedes did the same team orders thing and no booing for them, Massa is constantly "encouraged" to let Alonso ahead of him every race and there is no booing for that, Alonso calls him whole team stupid in Monza and no booing for that and Grosjean hits everything that moves and no booing for him plus i'm sure there are more examples but i cant think right now

My analogy for Seb is a bit like a child who does something wrong (Malaysia) so is punished and told off (by the team/media/f1 paddock) , that child then does really well (race wins ect) but instead of being congratulated just keeps getting told off again and again even though they don't do the same thing wrong and keeps doing good things (race wins/podiums) they are continually punished and when they fail (retirement at Silverstone) they are cheered for failure

I understand not everyone likes the guy hell half the time i dont but its just no on really to boo a guy for winning and cheer when they fail

Plus who knows how long Bernie is going to be in F1 with his court case in Germany although who else can you see in that role that would do as good as job especially with a lot of the pundits saying that when Bernie goes that the whole sport will get a lot more corporate because even though Bernie is a crazy man he keeps the sport interesting

MrsJaqenHgar · 08/09/2013 21:22

I think the booing of Vettel is appalling. I don't recall Schumacher ever being subject to this much vitriol during the dull years of his domination...which he wouldn't have manager quite so easily if it hadn't been for some really blatant Ferarri team orders. I'm not Vettel's biggest fan by any means but I can't see that he deserves so much hatred just for being a young, talented and at the top of his game. And I've never heard him be anything but complimentary to his team and always acknowledges and credits their part in his wins. Unlike a certain petulant spaniard....

Bernie is as mad as a bucket of frogs but F1 will almost certainly be worse off without him.

HilariousLotus · 09/09/2013 08:06

In my defence i was a little hormonal crazy in regards to my post about the booing of Seb but i still dont think its right booing someone who wins even Mark defended Seb which i thought was really great of him

"Yeah, brilliant to experience that, even though the atmosphere i was not completely a fan of, to be honest Sebastian won the race and the atmosphere is not completely correct but anyway"

EauRouge · 09/09/2013 10:25

I've seen some tweets today that are talking as if Raikkonen has already got the Ferrari drive. Personally I'd like to see Hulkenburg get it, Ferrari could do with a bit of a fresh start.

OP posts:
EauRouge · 09/09/2013 10:27

Although some tweets are saying it's going to be Raikkonen/Hulkenburg- all change at Ferrari for 2014?

OP posts:
MrsJaqenHgar · 09/09/2013 11:46

They need Kimi/Alonso to maximise their chances next season. And if it is the case, it'll be an interesting dynamic to watch.

MrsJaqenHgar · 09/09/2013 12:24

Also, isn't the Santander sponsorship deal with Ferrari tied up with Alonso? That would be a big sponsor to lose.

EauRouge · 09/09/2013 12:27

Loads now saying Raikkonen has already signed and they'll announce it on Wed. Think you're right about Santander.

OP posts:
HilariousLotus · 09/09/2013 18:19

I think you're right about the Santander sponsorship but i think Kimi would attract sponsors of his own to the team if he were to partner with Hulkenberg which for me would be a great team and would work with the whole Ferrari ethos of a number one driver

I really do not think Alonso could cope with out having a number two driver he is trying his toys out the pram now just because he is not winning and when/if Kimi joins and starts winning and out qualifying him which he inevitably will the fireworks are going to make the "civil war" at Red Bull look like a minor disagreement
