F1 silly season

It's getting very silly now with these rumours of Alonso going to Red Bull- can't see it happening. I hope it won't be Kimi either. Seb needs a good number 2 behind him, someone that won't challenge him for the championship. I reckon Ricciardo is Red Bull's best bet.

Martin Whitmarsh says I don't think we're letting him go ... Shouldn't he know he doesn't want to let him go maybe its me goog conspiracy crazy during silly season but it doesn't sound like the strongest we're keeping hold of him no matter what is it ??

Also is I had me and my friend have made a bet on when and where Massa and Grosjean will crash during the race ...??

Grosjean at La Source on the opening lap. Or maybe the formation lap Grin

That should say "Also is it bad me and my friend have made a bet" .. stupid phone auto correct

I have gone with Grosjean going off between Campus/Stavelot but i'm not sure when i think middle of the race because he is going to be so cautious at the start and get more feisty as the race goes on

Massa had trouble with keeping it straight in free practice and was wiggling all over the track so if he really does have two races to save his seat it doesn't look good and i think he is going to go off at Eau Rouge because he just can't get that car stuck to the ground

What a fab thread. Even though I live in F1 county most of my friends eyes glaze over when I talk about F1.

I think it is inevitable that Grosjean is a DNF for most races, I wonder if he was in a different team if he would be less aggressive with the car

Almost time!

No driver news, but some good news about a new contract. Also rumours about Pirelli being ditched in favour of Michelin next year.

Sorry to lower the tone by being so shallow, but phwoar at Mark Webber's chiseled cheekbones Grin I will miss him next year

Oh dear, I've killed the thread with my shallowness.

How cringey was the interview between EJ and Christian Horner?! Loved EJs directness and Christian's deflection...I wonder if the decision has been made and this is just good PR / advertising for RBR

EauRouge · 24/08/2013 13:15

CH didn't look pleased, it was either EJ's invasion of his personal space or his outfit Grin I think the decision must have been made, whether or not it's been made officially I don't know, but RB must know who is going to get that seat.

I'll miss Wibbah too, not many of the drivers say what they think.

Well, I hope Ricciardo has signed on the dotted line because that wasn't a great quali for him. That'll mess up my race predictions game Hmm

I am so happy that Van Der Garde got into q2 and in P3 but it definatly was not good for Ricciardo or JEV

I missed the interview how bad was it? bad enough that i should be watching it on bbc?

EauRouge · 24/08/2013 13:44

It was classic EJ really, getting right in people's faces and asking direct questions. He seems pretty sure that Ricciardo has the job.

I turned on the bbc coverage and EJs shirt is not that bad its the same colour of my nail varnish unless he was wearing a different one earlier?

Im going for Kimi or Vettel on pole

Di Resta may be a surprise pole sitter

:( Lewis is on pole

Gutted for Di Resta. I'm glad it wasn't Vettel though, I hate Lewis slightly less.

If i have to pick between Lewis and Vettel i will pick Vettel just because i just always feel serious dislike of Lewis... I really wanted Paul to be up there though but he is P5 so its not that bad

Its not looking good for Kimi though being behind Grosjean ...

Report
EauRouge · 24/08/2013 14:21

He just needs to keep his distance on the first few corners, then he can pass when Grosjean crashes into whoever's in front of him.

That means him crashing into Jenson or Paul which is rather he avoided so now im hoping he crashes later on instead of first lap

Mark Webber confirming to an Australian news station that Ricciardo has signed for Red Bull ... Gotta love him because really what can they do to him for telling anyone :)

Ha, just logged on to say exactly that Grin Think it was obvious from the start who they were going to pick.

I can't believe Grosjean lasted to the end of the race and Kimi retired with brake failure i did not see that happening at all and totally messed up the bet i had going on at least i won part of it with Vettel winning

Gotta feel bad for Paul he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and his car looked like it had been hit with a wrecking ball

So good to have F1 back

Good race...although gutted for DiResta that he wasn't able to convert that great quali performance to points.

I knew Ricciardo would get the RBR seat and good luck to him but its such an anticlimax after all the speculation. I was dying to see the fireworks between Seb and Kimi. I guess there's still the small chance of him going back to Ferarri which would be equally entertaining to see the dynamic between him and the man who he was ousted for if it happens.

Spa is next on my list of GPs that I want to attend. Always a good race :)
