Brilliant score for Charlotte Dujardin - and lovely to see her competing in a crash hat too

Eve · 03/08/2012 14:48

I am so sick of this 'elite' tag..

if money bought success, katie price would be riding at the Olympics on her £250k horses.

PinkyCheesy · 03/08/2012 15:05

Lol! Think she might need some surgery first...poor horse carrying all that silicon Grin

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 03/08/2012 15:43

I am not a horsey person, but I loved watching this.

Kveta · 03/08/2012 16:45

bloody hell at that article Shock

"The Germans excel at dressage. This is no great surprise since one of the main elements appears to be persuading a horse to goosestep across the arena."

what a tosser!

amazing dressage result today though :)

Bumping ready for tomorrow's Grand Prix Special. Team medals will be decided.

Marking place, can't wait. Are the showing it on the BBC does anyone know.

Be such a boost to equestrianism if we can take home two golds and a silver - Come On Charlotte!!!!

FrankelSaysRelax · 06/08/2012 21:36

It will definitely be on the BBC website and they may show the British riders on the main channels, but I expect the whole session will be on Sky/Virgin only tv wise.

Anyone watching?

I'm at work so can only have it streaming with the sound off, but I wondered what kind of reaction Patrick Kittel got at the end of his round.

Donki · 07/08/2012 15:20

The audience seemed appreciative.
But you should have heard the collective gasp for Carl Hester and Uthopia's first extended trot. It got a 10 - and so it ought. Breathtaking. And the roar when his score of over 80% was posted.

CMOTDibbler · 07/08/2012 15:38

All looking good - just Charlotte to go

CMOTDibbler · 07/08/2012 16:10

Well done !!!!

Donki · 07/08/2012 16:11

Very well ridden! Woo hoo!

Donki · 07/08/2012 16:29

What a good test from Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival!

Donki · 07/08/2012 16:30

Blimey - we have come such a long way since Chris Bartle and Wily Trout...

mummytime · 07/08/2012 16:31

It was all shown on the red button and the website. A great 20th medal for team GB

Fireandashes · 07/08/2012 16:33

Oh wow, gold!!!

Two golds and a silver in the equestrian team events...fantastic!

Eve · 07/08/2012 18:02

Why did only the 3 dressage riders get a medal? Wasn't it a team event with 3 top scores to count?

in eventing the throwaway scores got a medal, in showjumping they were allowed a throwaway in the 1st round?

FrankelSaysRelax · 07/08/2012 18:05

No throwaway score in dressage. All 3 have to count.

Richard Davison was riding as an individual.

PercyFilth · 07/08/2012 18:49

Are there any more horse competitions to come? I'm unclear how the individual ones work.

Donki · 07/08/2012 18:51

Individual Dressage is on Thursday (the freestyle to music, known as the GP Kur). It is the last round for the individuals.

Individual showjumping is tomorrow.

FrankelSaysRelax · 07/08/2012 19:01

I don't think any previous scores carry over in the individual competitions. The rounds so far have been used to narrow the field down.

The 25 top riders from yesterday's showjumping get to ride for the individual medals tomorrow and the top 18 riders from today's dressage get to ride again in the Freestyle on Thursday.

PercyFilth · 07/08/2012 19:34

So are the people in the eventing team (Zara et al) in the individual competitions as well, and if not, why not?

FrankelSaysRelax · 07/08/2012 19:43

They already had the individual eventing. It ran alongside the team competition as the discipline is too strenuous to ask the horses to do it twice.

A dressage test only lasts about 8 minutes and a showjumping round less than 2 minutes, so the horses are able to go through several rounds of competition.
