All GB horses have passed the vet this morning.

Assuming I'm the only one that's bothered then? Wink

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 11:00

Hmm, I've cocked up the times above. I think only Carl and Laura ride today, with Richard and Charlotte tomorrow.

Looking forward to watching them later. And yay for Frankels win at Goodwood Smile

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 11:35

Definite yay for Frankel Grin He was utterly sublime, as always - roll on York, my tickets arrived this morning!

god Carl is amazing, isn't he?

brighthair · 02/08/2012 11:59

No Sky Sad so I am missing it
I believe the Freestyle is on BBC later this week

Butkin · 02/08/2012 12:01

We're recording it on Sky and looking forward to it immensly. We loved every moment of the eventing and fingers crossed for Team GB in both dressage and show jumping. Only annoying thing is I'm finding it hard to find time to watch Goodwood as well!

Kveta · 02/08/2012 12:03

they just showed it on BBC3

just the british riders though.

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 12:09

Fabulous for Carl - 77.72 - into 1st place with second currently on 71.322

According to the London 2012 site, the K judge awarded him 80.2 Grin

Laura is not in until 15.11 with the other two Brits riding tomorrow.

Carl is amazing

Eve · 02/08/2012 12:33

..and some of those horses are so overbent! time to start deducting marks for that.

PinkyCheesy · 02/08/2012 12:34

Love the female commentator who did such a great explanation at the beginning of all the different movements involved. She's very calm unlike Matt Baker and professional. Carl was amazing!!

PinkyCheesy · 02/08/2012 12:36

I am watching it online as we don't have sky either. It's very good, even though we have rubbish broadband speed, I just select 'watch in alternative view' so it's not as high def but doesn't keep buffering like in normal view.

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 14:04

Back from lunch and glad to see Carl is still hanging in there!

For those that want to keep an eye on the scores, they are updated in real time here

I missed Carl's ride. They showed a horse on the news spooking a lot then retiring / eliminated but didn't catch who that was. It would be amazing for GB to get medals in dressage. Is it just the teams today or do their rides count for the individual medals too?

I'm looking forward to the Free style. I watched the dressage to music at Sydney and it was amazing.

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 15:07

The eliminated rider was Canadian.

Today counts for both Team and Individual. They ride the Grand Prix test today/tomorrow then the Grand Prix Special next week and after those 2 rounds the top 18 riders go forward to the Freestyle to music.

Laura up next.

OP posts:
FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 15:08

Sorry, should have clarified: the Team results will be known after the GP Special and the Freestyle is for individual medals.

OP posts:
FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 15:25

76.8 for Laura!

GB 1st and 2nd Grin

PinkyCheesy · 02/08/2012 15:28

Results look great but realistically what are the chances of it being continued tomorrow? Do they send out the top riders first or is it totally random order? I don't know much about the sport, just live watching the horses and skill of the riders.

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 15:54

It's a random order from what I understand.

There are 3 members in each team, so some teams have sent out 2 riders today and others only 1. We also have an additional individual rider, as do many other countries.

We are in with a good chance of medals though: Laura is currently ranked 3rd in the world and Charlotte broke the world record score for a freestyle test (to music) earlier this year.

I missed all of the dressage today, apart from the poor Canadian on the spooky horse.I felt so sorry for him,but did call my dds in to watch and told them that even horses that cost £££££'s can be naughty.

DeathByChocolate01 · 02/08/2012 20:40

Did anyone else think the dressage horses looked fat compared to the super-fit eventers? Obviously they're in incredible condition and very athletic, but I never noticed before what a difference there is in shape between pure dressage and eventers. I'm thrilled that GB is doing so well - it would be fantastic if we could win gold!

FrankelSaysRelax · 02/08/2012 22:13

They look very fat to me, but that's because I'm used to whippet-like racehorses all the time!

I think it's more the conditioning and training that produces a different muscle build, and obviously the breed types favoured by the different disciplines.

Grrr I stumbled on a horrible DM article while I was looking for today's results (I am travelling and can't watch). Stupid journalist. here
Hanging's too good for them Grin
