HELP! Accidentally squeezed massive boil

Notnowbarnaby · 15/06/2024 21:54

I have a boil in an unfortunate place, right on the edge of my labia. In growing hair. Incredibly painful. I was trying to see how big the root was but as I was manipulating the skin (hard to see in that area) to get a better look I accidentally gave it a squeeze. It bloody hurt and nothing came out apart from blood but now it’s red and angry and feels harder and I’m worried I’ve done some damage.
i cleaned with TCP and am doing hot compresses as I can’t actually see a head yet just an angry little bloody break to the skin, but the skin is red raw around it and the bloody thing is throbbing. I can’t really pack it so I’ve put a daily pad thing on and slathered with magnesium paste but I’m not sure what to do now?
do I leave it be? Have I done untold damage by squeezing and giving it the rage?
my mum scared the bejesus out of me by freaking out when I said I’d squeeEd and telling me I might get sepsis.
to add insult to injury I’m supposed to be doing a sponsored bike ride on Tuesday and have the whole family over on Monday. It hurts to walk and sit at the moment.
please share some tips and words of reassurance that I haven’t made it ten times worse

Oh and it’s about the size of a 5p now, feels like a hard little mountain. I don’t understand why no pus came out, I’ve had them before under my arm and torrents of pus came oozing once it burst!

Poor you - it must be so sore. I think the bike ride is out. You might need antibiotics if it doesn't go down or if the redness spreads.

valaston · 15/06/2024 22:33

Do you ride a lot? I'd be wondering if it's a saddle sore rather than an in grown hair. They definitely react like that to being squeezed, not really pus in them at all. And ime nothing much seems to help except time off the saddle, alternating hot and cold compress, and using well fitting padded shorts when back on the bike.

Notnowbarnaby · 15/06/2024 23:08

I cycle a lot, both spinning and cycling outside :(
I think the bike ride is definitely out.
have I likely made it spread does anyone know? I won’t squeeze it again but I’m desperate for it to drain it’s so sore!

OP posts:
Notnowbarnaby · 15/06/2024 23:20

The redness has definitely spread today but that seems to be since I squeezed it and since I put magnesium on it. I just want it to hurry up and get a head on it so it will burst!

Quick question does magnesium paste make it bigger? It’s doubled in size width wise rather than mountain height size since I first applied it! The whole width feels hard like a blind pimple does at the root. I can’t believe this has happened at a weekend as well, I don’t have any walk in clinics near me on a Sunday and even though it’s painful as hell I don’t have a temperature and don’t feel unwell with it so I don’t think it’s a case for 111 yet

Stab a needle in the fucker and squeeze.

Lkjhgdsrtgbjjm · 15/06/2024 23:36

It not a batholin cyst is it?

What about a warm bath?

Nomad14 · 15/06/2024 23:40

Sounds like you need antibiotics

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/06/2024 23:43

Magnesium draws it to the surface so it's working. Salt baths and warm compresses tomorrow and worse on Monday then see the doctor.

Notnowbarnaby · 15/06/2024 23:56

I wouldn’t know where to stick the needle it’s so big I can’t work out where the head is even starting to deform n I’ve got a hot water bottle on it at the moment and I’ve taken some painkillers.
im going to leave it alone over night and if I wake ill do a hot compress and reapply magnesium and then hopefully tomorrow it will have a head.
how long do these things last?
whats a batholin cyst? Do they hurt like fuckery too? I had a hot bath earlier and it did seem to help and calm it down a bit but then I went and accidentally squeezed it and gave it the absolute burning rage

If it's on the very inside of your labia, basically at the opening to your vagina, it sounds very much like a bartholins cyst, and one which needs antibiotics. If it is I suspect you'll be in enough pain tomorrow to call 111. I've had to go to a&e twice, the size they can get to is quite scary!!!

FluffyJellyCat · 16/06/2024 00:27

I think if it's as bad tomorrow you might need medical help. Dh had a cyst with no head. It was tracking inside

spikeandbuffy · 16/06/2024 00:44

I get ones with blood only in all the time - I do a lot of spin and have hidradenitis supprativa

And I squeeze them. Despite being immunocompromised I've never given myself an infection yet!
When mine are really bad I get in the bath with a load of Epsom salts

If you've had one under your arm too I would be wondering if it's HS. Mine are armpit and groin and they're common HS areas

LordSnot · 16/06/2024 00:46

I squeeze every fucker I get and I've never caused an infection, let alone sepsis. Don't freak out. Just carry on monitoring it and if it doesn't calm down, go to the doctor.

OhMoreDrama · 16/06/2024 00:51

Christ leave it alone, stop putting stuff on it and see a doctor tomorrow.

SweetGingerTea · 16/06/2024 00:53

batholin cyst was my thought, too; I had one once, and it was so painful, blind like yours, and I was in agony. It's time to call 111

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/06/2024 00:58

Hard no to this.

Strangerthanfictions · 16/06/2024 01:11

If it's inner labia near vaginal entrance this could very well be bartholin's cyst. I've had two of these. The first one I had sepsis and had to have emergency surgery, id been given antibiotics but 48 hours later I was feverish, in excruciating pain, vomiting bile and went to A&E in the middle of the night I was so bad. They admitted me and gave me suppositories and booked me in to surgery for that day , when the anaesthetist did he pre surgery rounds in the morning he took one look at me and had rushed immediately to theatre (was due to go that afternoon), at the time I knew nothing about sepsis I only remember a vague conversation as I headed to theatre about the infection being systemic and having some sort of understanding that the infection was in my blood or my whole body and it needed operating immediately, I was clearly out of my bin by this point. I was on three different antibiotics for a week afterwards. It's only when I got the second one and went to GP and she was going to prescribe antibiotics that I mentioned I'd had one before, she checked my notes and had me sent immediately to hospital, so I yeah I conclude I had sepsis or perhaps heading for septic shock that first time. My symptoms were that over a series of days it was getting sorer, bigger and area of inflammation getting larger but didn't seem like the sort of thing I could burst, like too deep or something, no head or visible puss etc. I'm sure my case is rare for these things but please get it seen asap.

CheeseDreamsTonight · 16/06/2024 01:15

I've had a few small batholin cysts and hot compress and hot baths helped them burst on their own. No head as such, just softened and popped them.

This. Stop fucking around with it and get to a doctor.

You've been lucky then...

yumyumyumy · 16/06/2024 03:47

You poor thing that sounds like agony. Id call 111 in a few hours and definitely no bike rides for a while!

Notnowbarnaby · 16/06/2024 07:23

It’s not on the very inside of the labia it’s the outer skin that’s inflamed and raised and hard. It’s also in the middle of the labia edge not right buy the entrance to the vagina so I’m not sure it sounds like a batholin cyst?

this morning as far as I can see it hasn’t spread any further but still no head. It’s still more wide than mountain like in shape even though it feels like a blind pimple where it’s hard. I took ibuprofen last night and put a hot water bottle on it for ages and it’s not as painful this morning, that could still be the ibuprofen so I’ll see how I go this morning.

i looked up on nhs the red flag symptoms and I don’t have any streaks coming from it, no temperature and don’t feel unwell so far but if any of that changes I’ll call 111.

definitely not riding this week but unsure what to do about all the family coming over tomorrow. Why is it always at the weekend?!
I might see if there’s any walk in places a bit further afield incase it gets worse, I really don’t want to go to A&E if I can avoid!

Notnowbarnaby · 16/06/2024 07:25

@OhMoreDrama i was putting magnesium paste on it because last time I had one the doctor advised me to do this to draw it to a head, I just couldn’t remember if the magnesium is the cause of it getting bigger or not. I thought it was the right thing to do!
