My leg just exploded!

I have had a lump on my leg for months. I was told it was a blood clot. Tonight I found my leg was damp. LOOK!!!
Of course I squeezed. It was grim and glorious. No idea what it was that came out of it but it looked like snot and I now have a hole in my leg.
Please excuse the state of my legs. Couldn’t shave etc whilst it was lumpy. Tried once and shaved off the top layer. OUCH!!! 😆

Wait, maybe I’m being dumb (probably!) but if it were a suspected blood clot then wouldn’t they have removed it or given medication for it? Have you been on needless medication since May? I’m just interested in what treatment was suggested because I thought blood clots were an emergency.

It does look fatty. Was it sore op? Did you get immediate relief?

Nope. I have a solid lump on the side of my thigh where I fell onto the corner of a brick when I was 16. It's existed for 24 years with no issues. It was an absolutely massive big goose egg of a bruise when I first got it and what's left is just solidified blood that won't break down.

OP, that looks like a cyst that's burst though so I think it might be worth a GP visit and showing them the pic, cysts can refill so it might need to be properly removed.

A deep vein thrombosis is dangerous as it can break and travel. A superficial one isn’t apparently. I had a DVT a couple of years ago and am on blood thinners.
The hole is rather small and unimpressive.
A GP appointment is like gold dust round here. Doubt I will get one for something that’s burst and gone away!

I can touch my leg without pain for the first time in MONTHS!
Just remembered they gave me an ointment to break up the blood clot. I stopped using it when it was clear it wasn’t working. Now I know why!
