Boil with PICS

It's pretty impressive!

Does it look like it might need medical attention? It's starting to effect her hearing (DD). She also feels a bit sick. Not dizzy.

Also, thought you might like pictures if it happens to need treatment! Or if it bursts of it's own accord.

Thanks!

I'd see a nurse or gp about that

Ukholidaysaregreat · 31/12/2022 12:27

OMG! I would get to the doctors with that. Especially on her face. Xxx

HelpMeGetThrough · 31/12/2022 12:29

I bet that isn't a boil. My dad had these in exactly the same place. it was a recurring abscess, which couldn't be removed.

Tootiredtosleep · 31/12/2022 12:37

Thanks @QueenSmartypants and @Ukholidaysaregreat. @HelpMeGetThrough I just thought it might not be a boil. Think we will go to the walk in centre.

Here’s another pick to show how deep it is.

Wow
I think that needs a medical professional to look at it, it’s in a place close to a lot of nerves etc and could get very nasty

SilverGlassHare · 31/12/2022 12:39

I’d see a GP or practice nurse about that tbh. There’s a lot of nerves in the face that you don’t want excessive pressure on.

Tootiredtosleep · 31/12/2022 12:42

Thanks all. We’re going to the walk in centre now. Hopefully, they can get it sorted.

Okay, I admit I’m only hear for the explosion.

…..But if it’s affecting her hearing, I think you need to get proper medical advice fast. Not the squeeze &film advice you’ll get here.

AutisticLegoLover · 31/12/2022 12:52

Ouch, that's impressive but definitely not one for popping. Antibiotics for sure.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/12/2022 12:55

I'm all for popping but sick and dizzy and affecting hearing should definitely be seen.

I'd be using hot salt water compresses because that looks like it's coming to a lovely head!

Pascha · 31/12/2022 12:57

That definitely looks infected to me, hope she gets some antibiotics at the walk-in.

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 12:57

Blimey, I would get that checked. Poor thing, how old is your dd, I hope you can get that sorted

Tootiredtosleep · 31/12/2022 13:29

She's 16. She was at work and had to come home, as she couldn't hear properly. Doesn't seem as bad now.

We're at the walk in centre now. There's a long wait, as we expected.

Feel like we're wasting time, it's so busy.

You are doing the right thing getting it checked. That's got to be painful. Such a thing of beauty 😂

Tootiredtosleep · 31/12/2022 15:16

We’ve been seen! Antibiotics, and go to GP after they’ve finished as may need a minor op to get it out. The nurse said it was a sebaceous cyst, and was infected.

Thanks all.

Wauden · 31/12/2022 16:44

How is her hearing now?

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 16:55

Glad you managed to get antibiotics. I hope that it clears up soon.

Ukholidaysaregreat · 31/12/2022 18:35

Aww! Glad you got some ABs.

MrsMorton · 01/01/2023 19:55

Oooh, could be something like a branchial cleft cyst or an aneurysmal bone cyst. OP, please make sure you follow it up even if it goes away.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2023 22:26

Agree with MrsMorton (not for the first time).

Thank you @MrsMorton off to Google both now. No change in DD. The cyst is still the same.
