What the hell is this hole in my foot?

Evening all,
Is this a healing verucca? I had what I thought was a callus about a month ago. After about a week it had little black dots on it so I’ve kept it covered with zinc oxide tape. Now there’s a bloody hole in my foot about 1cm wide.
Pics 1 & 2 taken Weds, pic 3 taken today… I just want it to go away 😭

Yep verruca hole I think.

keep it covered, because it’s damage like that that helps verrucas get IN

HoleInMyFoot · 22/06/2022 18:35

Thank you for replying, I’m hoping you can help out again - it’s getting bigger, hurts to walk on & is starting to smell 🤢🤢
I’m wondering if I need to see the GP but I really don’t want to waste their time…
Anyway, pics from today (apologies - it’s grim…) :

Make it bleed… It will kick start your defences and help it heal… I soaked mine then pulled at the stringy bits inside with some tweezers. Made it bleed slightly, then it went within a few days

BlanketsBanned · 22/06/2022 18:42

If it hurts and is smelly you need to speak to a doctor, dont go poking about with tweezers making it bleed, introducing infection.

picklemewalnuts · 22/06/2022 18:42

I'd want to trim away the dead white skin around it, I think. I wonder if you have a splinter in there, or something?
I'd soak in salt water, then trim/file away the dead white skin, so you can see what's happening.

CottonSock · 22/06/2022 18:45

Could you see a podiatrist?

tararabumdeay · 22/06/2022 18:45

Go to Docs! Those sort of things are horrible and sometimes need packing to heal.

hugoagogo · 22/06/2022 18:46

I would send your pics to the gp, the smelliest concerns me

Ylvamoon · 22/06/2022 18:46

Go and see your GP.
You would be wasting A&E time if you waied until the weekend and found out it's to painful to walk!

Livedandlearned · 22/06/2022 18:51

This thread is ace! I love your pictures....

Hope it heals nicely for you op, try and get a gp appt

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 22/06/2022 18:51

The smell is concerning. Absolutely do not make it bleed, that's how you get an infection if you don't already have one. Keep it clean with anti-bac soap, salt water, whatever you have. Plaster on it when you need to walk and wear socks and shoes, air it out when you can sit or lie down with it off the ground and see if you can get a GP appointment

Turmerictolly · 22/06/2022 18:56

GP definitely or at least the practice nurse if quicker.

tararabumdeay · 22/06/2022 18:56

Any hint of diabetes and it's serious.

LeuvenMan · 22/06/2022 18:59

Are you diabetic/ do you have circulation problems?
It could be the start of an ulcer (the smell is concerning)
You definitely need to see a Dr/Nurse sooner rather than later?

livelyliz · 22/06/2022 19:00

Ex podiatrist here. The yellow discolouration around the wound suggests infection. You really need to see a health professional, either a podiatrist/foot health professional and they may suggest a gp for antibiotics. The dead skin needs to be removed for the wound to heal. Please do not pick you will tear good skin by doing that.

SheWoreYellow · 22/06/2022 19:03

In the meantime I’d soak it in salt water.

HoleInMyFoot · 22/06/2022 22:31

Crikey - that was a lot of responses! Thank you everyone, I'll get a GP appt tomorrow. Poor GP, having to look at my smelly ole' foot....😭
I had hoped that because I have psoriasis my immune system would go into over-drive & sort it out. Alas, it hasn't happened.
I'll try & take another photo tomorrow but even my phone is balking at being close & keeps making the photos blurry 😂
Thanks again - my first post on MN & you've all been fabulous 👏

Hmm. Looks a bit nasty in there.

BlanketsBanned · 23/06/2022 13:59

I would try and give your foot a good clean and put a non adherent dessing over that, wear clean socks and good luck at the doctor, that looks very sore.

MayBeee · 23/06/2022 14:03

Tbh your foot looks a little grubby , have you had a big plaster on it ?

HoleInMyFoot · 23/06/2022 18:22

Evening all!
To answer questions first - yes I've had a variety of dressings / plasters / zinc oxide tape on the horrible bloody thing. I was reluctant to scrub near it in case I spread it so my foot does look a bit grubby... I promise I am real person and not a smelly troll!! And I do shower regularly!!

So, the GP said it definitely didn't look right... It appears to have once been a verruca but it hasn't healed, there is definitely some kind of infection but not the "usual kind". She poked it with a big pin, then scraped it a bit - nothing came out (not even blood). She's taken a swab (couldn't even feel that) & I've got a prescription for Fucidin cream (antibiotic).

I'll let you know if it closes and thank you for all the replies 🤗

Interesting! ado keep posting photos if anything exciting happens...

Isaidnoalready · 23/06/2022 18:26

Fucidin will dry your skin out so be cautious first time we used it my dds foot split so after that we had some emollient cream at the same time

Might have just been her though we get unique reactions 🤣
