Bum Spot

Aibu for traffic
Name change because well...

I’ve got the MOST painful spot on my bum.

I just dont know what to do about it, its ruining my half term because every time I move it hurts.

I've had a good look and taken some truly horrifying photos to try and see whats going on, it just looks like a spot, although no head/ does not seem to have pus or be “poppable”.

Ive done hot compresses, slathered it in sudocreme. But to no avail, said spot is seemingly right in an area that means I cant do anything without hurting it.

I don't think its a doctor situation, as it seems to just be a spot and its only been two days.

Any ideas how to calm it down, stop it hurting, get on with having a nice half term with my toddler?

Sorry for all the TMI and the blatent using of AIBU for non AIBU things.

Have you had a paracetamol? I don't always think to try a painkiller if it's not a headache etc.

Lemonlemon88 · 15/02/2021 08:32

Have you given it a squeeze just to see if it will pop? Sounds very sore!

Furrybutts · 15/02/2021 08:45

OP, I think you need to repost in Sporners Corner with some photos and let us drool over see if we can help with it.

Mysa74 · 15/02/2021 08:49

I agree with furrybutts...

embarrassingnamechange · 15/02/2021 08:52

Just had a couple of paracetemol now to see if that does anything.
Im REALLY scared to try and pop in case I make it worse. I was going to get DP to look today but forgot he was working so he has escaped that Grin.

You could also try putting germolene on as that has some local anaesthetic in it.

Perpetualheadache · 15/02/2021 09:00

I'd just squeeze it tbh

fireplaceburning · 15/02/2021 09:06

Magnesium sulphate paste to draw it out

Berlioz23 · 15/02/2021 09:08

I had one of them and I used vagisil on it (has lidocaine in it) which gives you some relief for a bit then I ran out at night and improvised with orajel, which also helped! I just kept bathing it and it went eventually. If it’s hot to touch it may be infected though.

AntiHop · 15/02/2021 09:09

Germolene. It has an anesthetic in it. You can also but vagasil/lidocaine over the counter, but check with the pharmacist that it's ok on a spot.

Furrybutts · 15/02/2021 09:09

I think you should ask DH to have a squeeze of it and post some pics report back

hands together in anticipation of what might pop out]

DinosaurDiana · 15/02/2021 09:10

How about a nice hot bath to see if you can draw it out ?
No too hot obviously.

whataballbag · 15/02/2021 09:11

Hot bag and mag sulph

Then squeeze it and take a pic for us freaks at sporner corner

whataballbag · 15/02/2021 09:11

Bath! Not bag

Dixiechickonhols · 15/02/2021 09:16

Could it be a perianal abscess. Top of bottom. It might look like a spot on top but agony as all nasty stuff going on under surface.

AprilThe8th · 15/02/2021 09:17

Definitely the magnesium paste. It'll be gone in no time,I had similar.

Sola123 · 15/02/2021 09:21

Which particular area? Could it be a boil?

HerculePoirotsGreyCells · 15/02/2021 09:24

Magnesium sulphate is your friend. Easily bought over the counter at any chemist.

GinNotGym19 · 15/02/2021 09:25

Tea tree oil spot gel! You can get it on Amazon prime for about a fiver it’s amazing

embarrassingnamechange · 15/02/2021 09:25

Grin at all the sporners! You funny lot. Im currently rummaging through the medicine box to see what magnesium based creams we might have. Its kind of on the bottom crease where cheek meets leg?

Gin4thewin4 · 15/02/2021 09:28

I had this on my bottom about 2 months ago and still have a red mark from where it was....
I never popped it myself as there was no head on it.

But I found that one time I sat on it in a way that would hurt it. And I continued sitting through the pain and I felt a slight pop. I never noted much coming out if it or anything. By the time I checked there was just blood. It was still sore after this, but much less so. I continue sitting on it in an uncomfortable way and all the pressure/soreness eased off.
But as I say, there is still a red mark where it once inhabited my arse.

Mellonsprite · 15/02/2021 09:29

The sporners of sporner corner will help you Grin if it’s actually on the cheek and not where a pilonidal cyst would be, I’d give it a hot compress, squeeze, then if no joy, get magnesium sulphate on it, then hot compress again. Then I have been known to try and burst things with a sterilised pin.

Trevorwhatever · 15/02/2021 09:32

Hopefully it’s just a spot and will be gone in a couple of days but if it’s causing you a lot of pain then it sounds like it could be infected. If it’s still really painful in a couple of days you ought to ring the doctor and get some antibiotics.

Painful spots in that area can be the start of a perianal abscess or fistula forming, especially if you have other health conditions such as Crohn’s disease or diabetes which can lower your immune system. Hope it’s nothing more than a spot as a perianal abscess or fistula really is no fun to deal with and can require multiple hospital visits.

embarrassingnamechange · 15/02/2021 12:54

Urgh. I dont think it should be anything worse I guess its mostly the positioning that is making it sore!! Having this moved to Sporners in case I manage to take a photo that is not pornographic that might help people help.

Really scared the amazon delivery man is going to knock whilst I’m bending over the photo with the timer on, both trying to expose spot and hide fanjo Shock

Whereabouts is it? I had what I thought was a painful spot that quickly (within a day) turned into pilanoidal cyst that required emergency surgery to open and drain, followed by four weeks of packing. Worst pain of my life.
