My dd aged 12 has an ingrowing hair on her thigh. It’s become infected and the GP gave her penicillin yesterday. Today it looks worse Confused

Will it pop soon? Disappear? She can’t walk properly, it hurts her too much...

Bruising has come out a bit more tonight, but doesn’t look as angry!

Nasty, but yes, less angry looking! Tell your DD I think she deserves at least a bar of chocolate for bravery Grin

That's better. I really recommend hypo colloidal plasters- they stop the itching when it starts to heal and keep the scab soft so less scarring.

Poor DD. That is a bite. I got the same when I caravanned near Poole years ago. It was hot, tight swollen and itchy.
I popped it myself but it filled again and my entire ankle joint swelled up. I ignored it until my mum saw it and told me to see the GP. It needed abs and went away.
It's not an ingrown hair.

i think that's a bite too....maybe a spider,... just because of the perfect roundness and the blueish bruising.

I would keep up with a hot flannel and try pulling/stretching round the hole rather than squeezing...in the very first picture, put your thumbs nearer the head and pull out and down, as if you were stretching it out rather than squeezing in.

Your poor DD it's definitely a bite, she could do with some antibiotic cream on that too, works a treat, I got a similar looking bite in Florida and it cleared up really well using cream too, hope she's not in too much pain, that looks very sore.

My son had something like this on the bottom of his back, turned out it was a pilonidal cyst. Its when the hair or hairs start growing inwards, it was like a big weeping boil. He ended up having surgery and a really bad time after.
