Infected toe with massive lump

MissEDashwood · 28/05/2017 04:32

My toe has been infected a year, it's erupted tons of bloody pus in the past just picking away at a bit of hard skin. My right side of my nail bed keeps erupting yellow nastiness. Anti biotics haven't work, a chiropodist hasn't worked.

For about 6 months I had a lump on the inside of my big toe too, same to as is infected. I thought I'd try and see if it'd pop, so did what I did, it just bled, it seems like this growing lump is solid.

Not sure what to do next.

Where my other big toe curves down this is just big & bulging, in thickness it looks twice the size of my other toe.

You should go to your GP your foot looks very different to the healthy one - I'd make an appointment asap

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/05/2017 05:27

You definitely need to see a dr, that toe does not look right at all.

AssassinatedBeauty · 28/05/2017 05:30

Your whole foot looks different, swollen and puffy, compared to the normal one. I think you need some proper investigation and treatment from a doctor. Perhaps other antibiotics can be tried, or it needs some kind of surgical intervention to treat it. But you can't be left like that for much longer, surely!

Myfirstbornisacollie · 28/05/2017 06:24

You need to see your GP as soon as possible it looks to me as if you could have a deeper infection. This can make you really unwell/risk losing the toe.
If there is infection in the bone (osteomyelitis) it will need more potent and prolonged treatment.

picklemepopcorn · 28/05/2017 06:30

Hmm. This is a bit beyond sporning. You need proper professional help.

Westray · 28/05/2017 06:35

It looks terrible.

Your whole foot is swollen. You need to see your GP ASAP.

Roystonv · 28/05/2017 06:46

Agree with all the above, you must get this seen to urgently as soon it will start to compromise your general health. It's a no Brainerd.

Roystonv · 28/05/2017 06:46

Ffs, no brainer

barrygetamoveonplease · 28/05/2017 06:55

Get to the doctor asap. Is there someone you can see today? A walk-in?
How does it smell?

Dothbutternoparsnips · 28/05/2017 07:11

I'd go to a podiatrist asap. They tend to be more experienced than gp s on feet and you'll g t an appointment quicker.

SleepFreeZone · 28/05/2017 07:12

Do you have any other health conditions such as diabetes OP?

SleepFreeZone · 28/05/2017 07:12

Oh and get this moved to Health!

Theworldisfullofidiots · 28/05/2017 07:14

GP not podiatrist. You need a swab taken and bloods. Your podiatrist may or may not be able to prescribe. The GP will likely refer you on to a specialist.

barrygetamoveonplease · 28/05/2017 07:15

Dear God, not diabetes. I have it. Feet are to be treated with absolute caution and care.
Will you get that seen to today, please?

MissEDashwood · 28/05/2017 15:09

I've seen so many different people over the last year, Dr's, pharmacists, them dudes who specialise in feet, not to mention the Nurses in hospital.

I've had creams, anti biotics, various hands on treatments, all said would cure it, none have.

Starting to wonder if this has been the cause of my weird weight loss. At the beginning it was a sporners dream, I kept say the lump is getting bigger, but no one seemed overly fussed by it.

I looked at the NHS website of foot issues and it matches none of them.

Today is Sunday, so there won't be a surgery till Tuesday, but we have emergency Dr's we can see, but not sure it's worth hassling OOH for.

Sorry for it being grim.

Iamastonished · 28/05/2017 15:11

Have you been tested for diabetes?

It is worth going to OOH. That looks like cellulitis and needs treating today

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/05/2017 15:13

That needs seeing as a matter of urgency by a GP as the left foot is dramatically different to the right. I doubt it looked like this when it was seen before,I think you might have got used to it and are therefore not seeing how bad it looks now.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/05/2017 15:14

I agree but needs seeing TODAY.

GlitteryFluff · 28/05/2017 15:19

I agree it needs seeing to.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/05/2017 15:22

**it needs

SauvignonBlanche · 28/05/2017 15:25

Looks like an OOH job to me!

BusterGonad · 28/05/2017 15:48

Op that needs to seen asap and please don't take this the wrong way but I think you need to take care when cutting your toe nails, you really need to look after your feet, it looks to me that your big toe nails are being cut incorrectly which can cause so many problems.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/05/2017 15:49

Completely agree, you need proper foot care after you have seen someone medical. I'd be very surprised if you don't need IV antibiotics for that.
