Infected toe with massive lump

My toe has been infected a year, it's erupted tons of bloody pus in the past just picking away at a bit of hard skin. My right side of my nail bed keeps erupting yellow nastiness. Anti biotics haven't work, a chiropodist hasn't worked.

For about 6 months I had a lump on the inside of my big toe too, same to as is infected. I thought I'd try and see if it'd pop, so did what I did, it just bled, it seems like this growing lump is solid.

Not sure what to do next.

If it has been infected for a whole year I am very surprised that the medical professionals haven't done more to sort this out.

Thank you, sorry if I'm coming across too relaxed about it. I'll get into 111, I was pissed off that when I showed the nurse over a year ago, I got the impression she thought I was wasting her time.

When all the gunk was coming out I went to the GP who gave me 2 courses of anti b's on 2 occasions which did very little. So saw the pharmacist on the minor ailments scheme, they have me topical creams. Someone older has applied all they know, so Epsom salts, bread poultices, magnesium sulphate and it didn't let up, so I saw their foot person who seemed relaxed about it.

I'm in a w/c most of the time, I have had the fasting test & GTT test which showed I was pre diabetes, which they advocate change in diet, but I can't eat, so I'm limited what I can intake.

Mi think it's been annoying me for so long it's not been an issue, it sounds petty but that nurse did really piss me off.

I do have arthritis so I know the lump could be related to that. Orthotics & surgery may be needed. This was a discovery at the end of last week.

For a good 6 months I've had referred pain in my other toes & in my foot. So I have got used to it. But whatever the lump is that has grown isn't what we thought, it's not like other times, where the smallest thing will cause it to pop and emit whatever. It's definitely a solid mass thats growing.

Thanks for your help, hopefully 111 won't be too annoyed with me. Just to check before I call, on top of the great stuff with my toe, my foot is swollen too?

Is cellulitis easily treated? Thank you for your help & in advance for replies.

My skin all over my body is dry and when I get changed it's like a snow storm. I got give this thick cream for that, but it felt way too greasy to apply at anytime. As I need it all over.

I'm guessing the ridges near my ankle is where my sock has pressed into the swelling?

Thanks again, if they find anything groovy and needs removing is that classed at spon? Was just thinking if it'd be satisfying if it got removed to see the little bugger that's been so sore.

Thanks again, officially been poked with a pointy stick into getting it sorted, I just really don't want to end up in hospital, I guess that's out of my hands now.

CakeBrewWineFlowersArchersGin for the bank hols for you.,

If anything had to be removed the Sporners would love a video! Grin

MissEDashwood · 28/05/2017 19:12

If it does whatever happens I'll try & get a video. Just wondering how they close it back up again. It might be easier to just get rid of me toe lol

MrsE you'd be the sporners hero for life for getting that on video.

I'm glad you've called 111, that looks awful. I got an infection in my toe nail bed, it ended up looking a bit like that but less purple and swollen. Get well soon
