This is the feedback thread for the 20 MNers who attended a tapas masterclass recently thanks to the team at Olive it!"

Olive it! is a culinary concept that aims to bring a sparkle to traditional olives by incorporating them into your cooking in new and exciting ways. The team there say "we were delighted to welcome MNers to our olive cooking course with celebrated Spanish chef, Omar Allibhoy. During the class, selected MNers experienced hands-on tuition from the ‘master of tapas’ himself. Omar took the MNers on a culinary journey exploring the exciting flavours of the Mediterranean and taught them how to make a selection of beautiful and mouth-watering dishes that will impress friends and family".

Take a look at our website for recipe inspiration.

Non attendees for a chance to win an olive hamper with an Olive it! recipe book, olives and apron (worth £60) please share on the thread your favourite type of olive/ favourite prep method for olives or the best way you include olives when entertaining or preparing tapas.

Attendees please share on this thread your responses to the following questions - do add any photos taken at the event too!

Q1 What was the most interesting thing you learnt about olives at the event? Please share this on the thread. Did it change your perception of olives?

Q2 What did you think of the recipes made on the day? Would you try them at home? If so, which ones and why/ when? What recipe did you like the most?

Q3 What did you think about Omar Allibhoy’s knowledge of olives?

Q4 If a friend, relative or acquaintance asked your advice about eating olives, to what extent would you recommend eating them?

Q5 Has the event encouraged you to experiment with olives in different ways?

Q6 Do you intend to eat or continue to eat table olives?

Q7 Finally, would you like to make any comments about the event or suggest any ways it could be improved?

thanks for the feedback!

I love the dried Greek olives in a Greek country salad with plenty of olive oil and balsamic vinegar

babybabynamechange · 25/06/2015 16:32

Non-attendee here

My favourite olive is a ripe Kalamata Olive. That said I've never met one I didn't like of any type! My toddler is also obsessed with olives which is great since my partner doesn't like them I now have an olive buddy and an excuse for ordering some in restaurants etc.

I love to eat olives on their own/as a salad accompaniement. For tapas I mostly use them in Tapenade and then served on some form of bread squares.

UpOnDown · 25/06/2015 18:37

I like olives stuffed with pimento, garlic and anchovy.

del2929 · 25/06/2015 23:19

non attendee==

nothing better than just having olives on the side to any dish really.

SerenaJoy · 26/06/2015 11:08

Non attendee here. My eldest love olives and he'd eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner if I let him. I put them in pasta, salads, and we're just back from France where we ate lovely French bread with Brie and tapenade for lunch almost every day - delicious.

My favourite kind are the green noceralla (?) ones. They're a vibrant green colour, with a lovely smooth, buttery taste. Yum.

MerryMarigold · 26/06/2015 18:35

Non attendee:
I love olives, particularly those with the stone in. I prefer green olives, but I'm NOT fond of stuffed ones (particularly the pepper/ garlic/ almond ones). I love them in a herb dressing. If serving to guests, I would just include some toothpicks to pick them up, and serve with other 'nibbles'. At home, I often include them in salads for myself to give the salad a bit of flavour.

I use olive oil in many recipes, including cake, but I've never used an actual olive in a sweet dish.

As my 3yo DD is an extreme olive muncher, if I put them in salad or soup she will immediately gobble them all up and it becomes an olive free dish, I tend to just make olive bread or breadsticks with either black or green olives, and even those who normally run in fear from olive find them absolutely delicious.

flamingtoaster · 26/06/2015 21:36

Non attendee.

We like olives in pasta dishes, salads and on pizzas. My DD and DH adore olives - DS is not so keen but they are easy to take out. Kalamata olives are gorgeous.

georgedawes · 28/06/2015 10:38

Non attendee - my favourite way to have olives is either in a greek salad or on pizza!

busymummy3 · 28/06/2015 16:35

I am a relative newcomer to the world of Olives as just never really liked the taste when younger. Now with all the different marinades I love them
Think my favourite is lemon garlic and herbs. Served simply in a colourful bowl .

busymummy3 · 28/06/2015 16:36

Oops forgot to add I am a non attendee

jennie1984j · 28/06/2015 18:49

I ove to stuff olives with feta cheese and black pepper

SweetPeaPods · 29/06/2015 09:33

I like any type of olive really. I love them really simple on the side with some bread, oil and balsamic. If I had a bread maker they would definitely go in the bread.
Or if I'm feeling fancy I whizz together an olive tapenade

Littleham · 29/06/2015 11:26
