Activewear that does it all - what’s in your rotation?

MaddyMumsnet · 19/03/2026 14:20

From school runs to yoga, dog walks to ski holidays, it feels like our activewear needs to work harder than ever. We want pieces that are comfortable, functional, easy to wash… and yes, pockets for your phone are a must.

That’s where Uniqlo’s Sport Utility Wear really comes into its own. Designed to flex with real life, these are pieces that adapt across activities and seasons. And for colder days, HEATTECH adds an extra layer of performance, providing lightweight warmth that works just as well on the slopes as it does for everyday wear.

We’d love to hear: Which activities do you need your activewear to keep up with right now? Share the pieces you rely on - even better if you include a link to your favourites from Uniqlo’s HEATTECH range or wider Sport Utility collection. Your picks could help others find their next favourite multifunctional outfit.

Everyone who comments by 16/04/26 will be entered into a prize draw to win one of two £100 UNIQLO vouchers. T&Cs apply.

look styish practical - I have a fat behind and mum belly so leggings are just so unflattering, these are trousers I'd wear for work and walking, and holidays - just off to order 2 pairs 😎😍

Short leg length too is a huge selling point for me.

All of with wide legged and lined trousers are on my wishlist this year - Love uniqlo - pity there is not one in my town to try on.

Tinseltrauma · 04/04/2026 16:15

I live in Sweaty Betty but they’re pricey and I generally like Uniqlo quality so I’m interested in this range, particularly the leggings.

CopperPan · 04/04/2026 23:21

I need clothes that are stretchy and hard wearing. I've had quite a few pricey leggings where the stitching has come undone at the crotch because of all the stretching I do - really not where you want to be flashing your underwear! And ideally quick to wash and dry, so I don't need too many esp when going on holiday.

TrulyJulie · 05/04/2026 05:36

Long jumpers and leggings are my go to. Comfy but can still be stylish with the right accessories.

chickenpotnoodle · 06/04/2026 08:41

I like to dress my DS on uniqlo trousers - they seem to be really well make and longer lasting than other brands I've bought, the long sleeved t shirts are always something other people comment on as to the design and graphics.
Mine are wearing these at the moment https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E485748-000/00?colorDisplayCode=65&sizeDisplayCode=130

I love the look of the Biker shorts - perfect for working out in the gym or at home as the weather warms up! 🌞

AmbientMeltdown · 09/04/2026 13:17

It says this post is 'created with Uniqlo' at the top.

No thanks. I don't like fast fashion activewear. It does NOT hold up so I'm not sure there's a convo here at all.

Non human posts are becoming mroe common on MN aren't they?

Namechangedforspooky · 09/04/2026 13:38

Another vote for llama leggings - so comfortable and look good too

Leggings to hold my wobbly bits together! 🙈

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 09/04/2026 14:46

I like the ultra stretch Active Flare Leggings
Colour: 39 DARK BROWN

I do a lot of walking and they look more "normal" trouserlke than leggings... Its good that they some in three leg lenghts as its almost impossible to take up hem on stretchy fabric. otherwise.

I have these in all colours,Ultra Stretch UV Protection Active Wide Trousers, they are perfect for wfh and gym sessions, so comfy

RealPearlKoala · 09/04/2026 19:58

Black or patterned 5 to 7 inch cycling type shorts that don’t roll up are my go to for all exercises in the summer, including running. Keep you cool and stop chafffing. Also love a capri legging for running, pilates, yoga, gym! i prefer baggy t shirts for running and gym- prevent sun burn when out and I prefer to be a bit covered when working out in the gym- and I think it looks more on trend.

sixsept · 09/04/2026 20:04

These are really nice! I like the green.

Flower0503 · 09/04/2026 21:42

I haven't tried uniqlo yet but liking the look of some of the trousers and gym leggings, its important they are comfortable for gym workouts, pockets are handy

Sharingmythoughts · 11/04/2026 18:55

Leggings that have support are thicker and have an inner drawstring tie waistband so they don’t slip down. Sweat and moisture wicking that’s not visible on the fabric

Mrspepperminttea · 11/04/2026 19:18

I find its very difficult to find a true longline vest or tshirt right now, and would really love more of these from Uniqlo etc. I know its not especially fashionable and most tops basically hit the waist if you are lucky.... but I prefer feeling a bit more covered particularly if Im going to leave the gym and go and run errands or whatever. The shape of these tshirts are nice though - good neckline....Women's AIRism Scoop Neck T-Shirt | UNIQLO UK

QueenOfThorns · 11/04/2026 19:34

I have the Ultra Stretch UV Protection Active Wide Trousers in two colours, but to be honest, I wear them for a bit of comfort when WFH, rather than anything particularly active! I love the fact that the tall size is long enough for my out of proportion legs, plus the UV protection aspect will be great for a lunchtime walk once the weather stops being so crazy.

Looks to be a good range. Will definitely check it out next time I'm near a Uniqlo store.

springyla · 11/04/2026 20:28

If it doesn’t have a pocket that fits an iPhone, I’m not buying it
