Activewear that does it all - what’s in your rotation?

MaddyMumsnet · 19/03/2026 14:20

From school runs to yoga, dog walks to ski holidays, it feels like our activewear needs to work harder than ever. We want pieces that are comfortable, functional, easy to wash… and yes, pockets for your phone are a must.

That’s where Uniqlo’s Sport Utility Wear really comes into its own. Designed to flex with real life, these are pieces that adapt across activities and seasons. And for colder days, HEATTECH adds an extra layer of performance, providing lightweight warmth that works just as well on the slopes as it does for everyday wear.

We’d love to hear: Which activities do you need your activewear to keep up with right now? Share the pieces you rely on - even better if you include a link to your favourites from Uniqlo’s HEATTECH range or wider Sport Utility collection. Your picks could help others find their next favourite multifunctional outfit.

Everyone who comments by 16/04/26 will be entered into a prize draw to win one of two £100 UNIQLO vouchers. T&Cs apply.

Not something I’d wear - much too dull. Why such much black?

sharond101 · 19/03/2026 15:14

I need something versatile I can wear to the gym, school run, shops and all day at home. They need to stay in place and flatter my figure.

Theimpossiblegirl · 19/03/2026 20:10

I love the active wear leggings with the line down the side. I'd wear them for running, walking and yoga but the are nice enough to just wear.

I rely on my activewear for school runs, dog walks, and weekend hikes. I love the Uniqlo HEATTECH leggings for their lightweight warmth and stretch—they keep me comfortable no matter the activity. I also can’t live without the Sport Utility jacket, which is perfect for layering and has pockets that actually fit my phone.

I have a pair of these - not a fan of tracky bottoms or leggings but these are something I wear all day - and paired with a loose light top or sweatshirt - wearable in summer and winter - walking the dog, meeting friends for coffee and they are ok for work too,

I help with school reading as a volunteer and a playgroup, and really like -and would love to buy https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E484186-000/00?colorDisplayCode=37&sizeDisplayCode=003 Linen jump suit, it's smart, but casual, roomy but would have some good fit to hide thighs and belly, and it's a fabric I love to wear which softens with age. I'd keep it forever.

CarmellaSopranosKitchen · 24/03/2026 20:46

Love the Ultra Stretch Active Jacket - looks so useful whether I'm trying to be sporty, out on a walk or wrangling children. It's a great plain navy colour and I think it would be great as sportswear or paired with jeans, To be honest, that's what I need clothes that I can wear around the house, nipping to the shops and then to the gym. I like them they are stylish, and look comfortable (important) to me when I'm on the go. They also look like they would be hard wearing too, important. I also like the pale pink Hoodie. Certainly some pieces I'd wear time and time again.

ruqiya1965 · 24/03/2026 21:48

I walk a lot and love wearing leggings as they're so comfy. I prefer my leggings to be on the stretchy side and tend to get thick ones for the winter. I'm not bothered so much by pockets, but these look great:

I'm more of a joggers type of woman. I would forgo aesthetics just to feel comfortable. These particular joggers really call out to me: https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E455942-000/00?colorDisplayCode=03&sizeDisplayCode=003

They remind me of the harem pants that I'm known to favour. And I wear them for anything and everything: from walking to working out to even just lounging about in the house. Comfort over aesthetics anyday!

saffysabir · 24/03/2026 22:04

I've just gotten back into working out. For me, I place importance on something that can be worn in all 4 seasons as opposed to having stuff that's just for the winter or summer etc. especially due to lack of closet space. So I'd say lightweight warmth is a factor, but I'm yet to find something that fits this as companies tend to cater towards one or the other.

The HEATTECH Ultra Warm Leggings look like they fit this, but maybe might be too warm? I would love if the same HEATTECH could be used for joggers as I'm also more of a joggers woman, but wear leggings on occassion. Would love to have the option though.

Britanniahouse · 25/03/2026 11:54

I like to wear smart casual - and these are 'me' 100% love all of the colours, they look comfy, I'd want at least 3 pairs for all seasons.
I like to feel confident and comfortable, and with the ability to dress up or down they are a true wardrobe staple Unisex Sweat Straight Trousers | UNIQLO UK

RonnSeall · 25/03/2026 15:09

I have lots of Uniqlo items to keep me warm- I work from (a draughty Victorian!) home and have a child that trains and plays football around 5 times a week. So I need help to keep warm!

I wear the heat tech leggings and tops under my clothes - they are so well priced and do the job, lovely colours as well, I’ve got this on at the moment https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E469765-000/01?colorDisplayCode=32

salemaxo · 26/03/2026 20:19

I rely on breathable tops as I sweat a lot. I find that I'm always moving; either after the kids, household chores or when I'm out. I would want several tops to work out in and also serving to keep me warm during normal everyday activities. The heattech stuff seems like it could be exactly what I'm looking for.

alshareif · 26/03/2026 23:40

I like the look of the Windproof Short Parka. It's loose which is important for me and looks perfect for chilly days outside

falalalalalalalallama · 27/03/2026 08:22

I can't work out if these would fit me - the sizing chart doesn't have standard clothing sizes on it, only measurements.

I'm going to guess I'm too fat for the brand, but as I have no idea where my tape measure is and don't have time to be messing around measuring myself anyway, I guess I'll never know.

Shame, they look quite nice to be fair.

Denim4ever · 29/03/2026 00:28

Please bring back your jersey hoodies (zip through) for men and women. They are useful and there's no good alternative for no logo people

MayCottage · 31/03/2026 19:15

I think these are something I'd add to my summer workout wardrobe when jogging - dry quickly and are UV resistent - green or blue - i'd pick both

Also short legs please - I am 5 2 - legs and sometimes arms are sometimes far too long - more in the petite range please.

DuckWithOneWing · 01/04/2026 18:10

I need pockets! Lots of pockets to put my phone, tissues and lip balm in

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 01/04/2026 18:15

What a load of ai bollocks

Backatasda · 02/04/2026 08:47

At 35, my life is a mix of school runs, yoga sessions, dog walks, and the occasional ski holiday, so I need activewear that can really keep up. Comfort and flexibility are a must, but so is practicality — pockets for my phone, easy-to-wash fabrics, and layers that adapt to both indoor and outdoor activities.
The piece I get the most out of is Uniqlo’s HEATTECH Fleece-Lined Leggings. They’re lightweight but warm, move with me during yoga, stretch for school run sprints, and are perfect under ski gear without adding bulk. Plus, the fleece lining keeps me cozy on chilly dog walks without overheating indoors. Truly multifunctional and easy to throw on for anything life throws my way.

What a load of ai bollocks

why ??

ChaliceinWonderland · 02/04/2026 08:54

I'm 55, all the model's look 16 therefore the brand is not reflecting my demographic.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 02/04/2026 20:50

I like the look of https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E479405-000/00 and reckon I could probably wear them in the office and out for the walk at lunch time I keep promising I’ll do.
