Hospitals -good
NHS services -so so, have to keep reminding people you need equiment

LEA-crap!!! Equiment services ok, but if you need statementing etc they are complete poo.

Phoenix4725 · 16/01/2010 20:26

ok thank you luckily they have agreed to honor ds new statement that just been drawn up by Essex so can let that breath out.

Congratulations on the bungalow! Are you moving somewhere near Bishops Stortford / Sawbridgeworth area? If so the nearest hospital is the Princess Alexandra in Harlow, although there is also a community hospital in Bishops Strtford

Phoenix4725 · 16/01/2010 20:41

thank you though am having to find 3K up front

but means ds will no longer either have to crawl or be carried up stairs and i will finally have bedroom of my own been a long time since had hmm around 6 years no more sofabed,

hmm will they provide services or sinc enot in essex will i need herts pct for services

I don't know for sure, but local GPs and HVs are pretty used to liasing with their Essex colleagues - e.g. DS2 is seeing a consultant at Stortford community hospital, but his operation will ultimately be at PAH in Essex.

guess it truely depends on the area of herts, Im north herts and our service is terible, however, 20miles away in St Albans is very good.

Phoenix4725 · 17/01/2010 17:19

im going to be in west herts near town posh spice town lol talk about there goes the neighbourghood

no herts have agreed ds stay at S&l unit in essex since were only 3 miles away there nearest is 50 mins

yes ds has it in his statement in part 2 and 3 , he has just had a rewrite thanks to ican report and they rolled over to it and herts are happy with it he will be getting regular salt in unit theres one there every day and they all sign in mainstream to

hmm whats the ot criteria?

ds has it due to to his problems with fine and gross motor controll

Where Herts is really bad (IMHO) is getting started (diagnosed/ recognised/ getting any educational support) and getting an adiquate statement. If the statement is specific especially for the critically important things, then life should be smoother. The LEA put a lot of energy into witholding support at the early hurdles, so if the statement is already good you should be past that stumbling block!

starlight know your having huge problems with them down to ds asd .

yes ds has several dx ok thast good to know since they accepted his about only label he not carry is asd/adhd .Think for him its easier as people like to be able to see the problems though cant see his receptive language delay

OP posts:
lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 17/01/2010 19:28

we are too having a huge problem in early stages where im in herts too (dont think me and SLM are same area), and LEA is pretty bad here, we are struggling to even get an IEP in place.

heQet · 17/01/2010 19:29

bad. bad bad bad bad bad. Best thing we ever did for the kids (autism) was getting the fuck out of Herts!

Phoenix4725 · 01/02/2010 20:27

BriocheDoree · 01/02/2010 20:32

Hey Phoenix can't comment on Herts (apart from being born there, haven't spent a great deal of time there since ) but great news about the bungalow. Hope S&L unit better than current placement

where abouts? have you got a school in mind?? I work in East herts, and there are good points to different schools, but i think same as everywhere fight for everything.

Now I do know there as a place in east herts where you can borrow equipment to try out, and also there is some very good childrens centres

CardyMow · 14/02/2010 17:10

Was your N essex paed one I would know? And how did you find them? Helpful or not so? Based at CGH/PCC?

Phoenix4725 · 14/02/2010 18:03

thank you

I am going be on the herts border half way between Sawbridgeworth and Bishop stortford.
Little village beging with S.near Three horseshoes pub/resturant

Am aiming get ds into Harlowbury school back over border in Harlow .Been for look round and impressed and way nearer than any units in herts .Herts have agreed to honour if Essex say speech unit .

If there is somewhere where can borrow equipment to try out that would be perfect and childrens centers be good to am feeling very alone rl at the moment
