Would anyone be interested in a meet?

I've read several posts recently where people have spoken about the isolation and loneliness of parenting child/ren with SEN and feeling like you don't belong. Would anyone be interested in setting up some regional groups for adults to meet up, say once a month, for a coffee, or a drink and a chat with parents in the same boat? It would be a good way of letting off steam and sharing tips and knowledge and having a bloody good moan if need be!

I'm a bit protective about what I post on here in terms of personal info that could identify me - e.g. where I live, but would be happy to do through TTR if anyone else is keen.

LRB and Bullet are 20th, 27th or 3rd any good for you?

There are a couple of parks I have in mind but are your boys OK around water? One has a boating lake and the other a paddling pool. If not, no worries I can think of somewhere else. I want us to meet where they will all be comfortable, relaxed and happy.

MissTired · 17/08/2010 08:59

not sure if i fit into any of the sections on the list but im in nottinghamshire if anyone wants a meet i can get to!?

bullet234 · 17/08/2010 10:38

27th would be best for me if that's ok, otherwise the 3rd is fine as well. The 20th is not doable, as I booked a boiler service in that day. The company is supposed to ring back to confirm, hasn't yet, so I'm unsure what's going on. Knowing my luck they won't turn up and I'll have wasted a day indoors.
The lads will be fine round the water.
I will need someone to meet us at the train station though, if that's ok.

bullet234 · 17/08/2010 10:39

On that day.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 11:38

OK so 27th or 3rd LRB?

bullet234 · 17/08/2010 17:07

Well, as boiler service is now not until September, I can also do the 20th. So 20th, 27th or 3rd all fine with me.

Glitterknickaz · 17/08/2010 19:52

I've met bullet already, she's lovely Wink

I'm in Sussex and so can do South or London meets.

LRB978 · 17/08/2010 20:20

Yeah, any of them are good for me, although I have physio at 10.30 on the 20th and ds has an eye test at 9.50 on the 27th, but apart from that have no plans.

mammy2mollieandniamh · 17/08/2010 20:30

Hey Ladies,

I actually run a group in S.Wales for families to come along to who have a child with a special need, we meet on a monthly basis in a soft play center that is exclusive to us during our times. All the families find these a huge benefit and meet lots of friends and share experiences, we are currently a community group however are raising funds to become a registered charity, if anyone would like to get involved with this please email me at [email protected] Tasha x

LRB978 · 17/08/2010 21:30

Sorry, forgot to say, water is no problem for ds (and if he can paddle in it, he'll be even happier HmmGrin)

redhappy · 18/08/2010 01:21

Have accepted :)

How did someone try to "fix" your son :(

redhappy · 21/08/2010 11:44

here

My own mum rang me that day, and when I told her about it she was absolutely shocked....then started to say, 'well, you were very stressed when you were pregnant, perhaps you could try this therapy or blah blah'

Had just had enough that day! Normally don't put personal stuff on my fb status but I just couldn't help myself that day!
