for ds1 (10) who has AS i have got him (as requested).......

a vibrating massage snake (not as kinky as it sounds) and
a motorized coin sorter

he is going to wee himself with excitement! he has been asking for that bloody coin sorter for 4 yrs running lol. my friend just phsl when i told her what he'd asked for and i'd bought!

what weird and wonderful gifts are you giving???

Gawd ds1 wold love that sorternowt too odd- there was a rock tumbler earlier this month for ds1's birthday that was promptly returned as the otor kept slipping and after a week nowt ahd happened - I think that taught us a lesson

oh a spy set so he can spy on us but not intereract (forever behind the bloody sofa atm)

DS3 wanted a dora bike with streamers

fortunately we don 't get to use the bikes much so on hold until his (summer) birthday and just hoping he sees further than opink and shiny then (prob wouldnt be an issue but with 3 brothers to laugh at you....)

Would Diego appeal to him, DS is still a huge fan of both Dora and Diego! DS has a Diego bike (mind you it's overpriced and a bit crap so wouldn't recommend it)

Decided to accept that DD (3) is well behind and at the same stage as her younger sister, so have bought them a joint present of a play kitchen. She is also getting a shopping trolley from Nanny & Grandad, as she currently uses her doll's buggy to cart playdough around .

DD1 has only this month started getting the idea of imaginative play, and that she can pretend something is a cake, or steering wheel.

DD2 (16 mo) has had the idea that she can give us things (a bit random, like empty packets, shoes) and we will be pleased for a couple of months.

So they will enjoy using the kitchen and the shopping trolley and dustpan & brush set.

if it's any comfort, DS also has a bit of a "thing" for Disney princesses atm, we even have a couple of the cheap ones (Ariel and Sleeping Beauty). He refuses to watching the Little Mermaid DVD though as "it's for girls" [hmmmm].

TC- my DS wanted a " princess ", as his best friend ( girl with big sister) said that in answer to " what would you like for Christmas" DS thinks it must be the " right" answer if she said it.
Don't think he will be too upset at cars and road mat tho, as I'm not sure he has any idea what a princess is.

Would musical things - CDs etc - be enjoyed then NMC?

My weird present for J is a brush to scrub his back with in the bath. I've given it to him early to calm him down and he LOVES it. Something to do with his weird sensory issues I guess, but he just loves it so much!

Apart from the masses of Thomas related gifts, I am going to wrap up a nice new Yellow Pages for DS1 and regardless of how nice or expensive everything is, I can guarnatee it will be his favourite gift.

I have just printed a mass of double passport sized photos of DS1 and DS2 which I am going to attach to each of their presents, in the hope of starting to teach DS1 that not all shiney wrapped things are his to open, I will let you know how my experiment goes

NMC, what about the textured toys and books you can get for very young children? She'd need help with feeling them, but would she like them?

NMC, sensory tactile type stuff? Have found hawkings bizare to be quite usefull for this type of stuff.

DS1(5) is getting the puzzleball he's nagged incessantly for and will probably never touch, plus an optics set that works a bit like sticklebricks that I hope he'll love, since he's fascinated with magnifying glasses and stuff plus a load of books including various Top Gear books (a fiver for 4 at thebookpeople)

DS2(2.5) doesn't even get Christmas and was hard to buy for (but DS1 would notice if we skimped on stuff for him), so is getting lots of books (more book people bargains!), a Brio train set that he'll either love or hate plus a compatible train that spells his name, plus an engine driver's outfit and a stacking wooden Thomas that I hope motivates him to start putting stuff together.

He'll probably go off his current train fixation sometime next week.

A waffle maker. (new source of crunchy carbs). One of those hot water bottle things full of wheat that you put in the microwave - so when she chews it she can't do herself any harm. Clothes and various other things that we would buy her anyway - another age 4-6 grobag, PJs with integral mitts to stop her chewing her hands. Oh, and the usual random sensory stuff from Hawkins' bazaar for the stocking.

He has so much less than DS1 - can't help feeling a bit guilty, even though I KNOW he gets overwhelmed by too many presents and this is by far the best way. Will be interesting this year though - since he broke his leg and is immobile he's much more focused on stuff, so maybe he'll take more notice than he usually does. He's very odd about presents - seems almost embarrassed by them.

I would love a motorized coin sorter

It's been more of a challenge for ds this year, other than one present in Argos which is a magnifiyer type thing that plugs into you tele, ds has not wanted one thing from the shops. He sees adverts but is not interested. Although I have found lots of goodies from Hawkins Bazarre.

For the last few months I've been busy hunting around car boots and ebay, I know what he likes but it's not going to be found from a regular shop. I went through the argos catalogue with him, and apart from the magnifyer thingy there was nothing else that interested him.

He wanted all the old pokemon GBA games which I could only find from ebay. I bidded at a reasonable price and after receiving them I realised they were all fakes, from 3 different ebayers!! B.s.a.r.ds! It would be a whole lot easier if he would just point out various items in a catalogue.

I am just out of ideas. DD has normal 4 yo intelliegnce so finds baby things with textures and lights very very boring.
It'll be easier once she can use a computer.
