bit of a hi-jack....how did it go with you PIL needmorecoffee?

needmorecoffee · 24/12/2008 09:09

I'm still in therapy DDF
They didn't see dd who was in front room with a carer. Didn't bother to go look at her. But sat on their arses while I cooked lunch (from my wheelchair)
tactless questions included...
'so, you still cycling then?'
'Do you ever go to the gym?'
'you going on holiday this year?' (we havn't been on a family holiday ever cos we are skint)
Then they banged on about going ski-ing next week and some other holiday in March. I went and watched ds1 playing WoW instead.
(they only came for a few hours in the end thank gawd)
and they didn't mention wanting all disabled peope to die. Bit of a first

Dropdeadfred · 24/12/2008 09:11

needmorecoffee..they still sound awful but at least they didn't say long....
do you never say 'no we cannot afford a holiday?'

sorry for hi-jack OP

do you miss alcohol at times like this NMC

r3dh3d · 24/12/2008 10:30

Is she into audio books NMC? Or have you already got every possible audio children's book since recordings first began?

needmorecoffee · 24/12/2008 11:01

I have done DDF but it makes no impact.
Yes, miss alcohol. Have been eyeing it inna shop but if I have one tiny drinky then dd will have a seizure and I wont be able to insert the diazepam up her bottom

TotalChaos · 24/12/2008 11:02

sorry NMC I assumed you had given up the ale for purely religious reasons, hadn't thought any deeper

needmorecoffee · 24/12/2008 11:03

well, there's that too but I gave up the hard stuff before I converted cos of dd and her pesky seizures.

We've got DS a load of sticker books, but we've painstakingly put the stickers on ourselves. He gets frustrated if he does them himself as he's very fussy about them being perfectly in the lines.

His favourite thing is to pick and peel them off, so he will have great fun. And will hopefully stop chipping paint and wallpaper for at least a day or two.

I hope, it's unpredictable really isn't it?

HelensMelons · 24/12/2008 13:23

We haven't gone too mad, I also hope it goes ok. The house is going to be very busy and noisy.

I really like the automatic coin sorter idea - perhaps next year! Our lot mainly just wanted animals and lego, oh and the usual 'puppy' but that's on the long finger!

NMC, might sound a bit daft, perhaps it is, but what about a herb garden - most can be grown on a window sill, and, although I understand she can't see them, parsley, rosemary, etc, sage do have really nice smells and she would know what they all are. Probably just something else for you to look after though, crap idea.

flyingmum · 24/12/2008 14:30

Um

DS1 who is 13 just wanted:
a digital camera (OK reasonable 'normal' present)

Wait for it . .

An egg poacher
Steak Knives
An ice cream scoop.

Bless. He's got the lot - although someone did look a bit askance when I announced that I was buying knives for my 13 year old

feelingbitfestive · 24/12/2008 14:38

I want a live piranha

AmIWhatAndWhy · 24/12/2008 15:37

lol!

When I was 16 I got my boyfriend a lizard, with the tanks, lamps and all. His mum was impressed until she saw the two boxes of live crickets he'd got to feed it.

anonandlikeit · 24/12/2008 21:21

same as last year,
Blue tac, sellotape, mini stapler & post it notes!
DS2 (age 6) just loves office supplies!!
