we been told it can take years to get a dx for ds so thinking of going private, do we wait for nhs or pay? does anyone know how much it is?

but i can not understand how it takes so long on nhs, where when you pay you can find out in a day!

Trace - If you can get you DS a refer to Ryegate, then the wait once you have your first appointment should be fairly short, im not sure if this assessment is differant once a child is at school as DD hadnt started at primary when she we started the assessment.

Our timescale was similar to leonies

Early years refereal - Feb 07

First app - Mid July 07 (with pead, salt & Pysc)

IQ Testing with Pysc - Early Aug 07 (verbal Dx given)

Early Sept 07 - Full Dx report given.

It's wortha sking for specific paeds too- our GP always refers to us to Sam's (DS1), as we have a fairly good relationship with her (and she's one of the few people who can talk me down ) but for example, the one Sam saw when we were in Somerset said o'oh yes he seems AS but we cant sure that so no point investigating further- discharge' .

There's a book af strategies n Amazion which is great to use in the pre-dx period.... shall go find.....
