My daughters was received 4/4, her award letter was sent out (without any chaser phone calls from us) on the 26/7.

She doesn’t have an official medical diagnosis and all we had was a supporting statement from her nursery teacher who had known her for a few months. We were awarded middle rate care!

Hi! I'm new to all this, what is medium rate care? I have a psych report and the report from the ADHD diagnosis but I'm not sure whether to submit the DLA as I have a lack of evidence.

Dla waiting times Hi parents! Wanted to add, my scan date was 19th may. It’s been 16 weeks. I calls last weeks an was told up to 18 weeks. My child has received disability for the last few years but as I was late this year it was put under ‘new claim’ instead of renewal.

AndrewGarfieldsLaptop · 12/09/2023 15:10

Just sent mine off today. 🤞🏻

xxAmy · 12/09/2023 19:09

@Dknhaz how do you find out if your too late sending back renewal forms? We are awaiting to hear from my girls renewal and haven’t heard anything as of yet? it’s first time renewal for us

Dknhaz · 12/09/2023 21:29

@xxAmy you should receive a letter around 3-4months before the renewal. But if unsure please call them! I’m on week 17 (this Friday) so will update you next week :) fingers crossed

Dknhaz · 12/09/2023 21:30

@AndrewGarfieldsLaptop best of luck to you! Fingers crossed they’re trying to cut down the waiting times. I’m on week 17 now

xxAmy · 12/09/2023 23:29

We have had the renewal pack and sent it off, I was just wondering how did you know that it was ‘late’ ?

good luck to you, let us know how you get on

Hi all. Received a letter today saying this;

Dear Mrs X

ABOUT YOUR CLAIM
You are dealing with a claim for Y. Remember that the information in this letter is about them.

We are sorry that we have not given you a decision on your claim for Disability Living Allowance yet, this could take up to 15 weeks.

You do not need to contact us.

What happens next

We will deal with your claim as quickly as we can. Do not worry you will not lose money. We will write to you again as soon as we can with more information.

Yours sincerely,
Office Manager

Does this mean 15 weeks from the date they sent this letter?

Kezbooth · 25/11/2023 10:30

I ring dla on the 19th September to get forms for my 8 year old who has ADHD I rang them up they send they didn't get the form until the 3 October it's going to take about 15weeks. Will they back date the money if he gets dla? If he was not getting it would I have heard something by now? I sent the letter from the paediatrician. I rand dla about a week ago to tell them he has gone up on his meds. Any advice would be helpful please. Never had to do this before thanks

xxAmy · 25/11/2023 13:41

@Kezbooth the wait times are extremely long and so painful to wait! They say 15 weeks on the letter but others have been waiting 26+ weeks
what week are you on now?

i would send in the further evidence you have of medication increase to them, with his name address and date of birth on a little letter to say here is further evidence. send it special delivery so they get it as soon as.

you will get a letter to say the outcome, but they have started text messaging for children who are awarded.

I got the payment before knowing my boy was awarded so it’s also helpful to keep checking the bank

Kezbooth · 27/11/2023 13:09

That is what I got in a letter to. I have never done a dla claim before for any of my kids. It's bad people have to wait this long.

Kezbooth · 02/12/2023 05:54

I think it is wrong how we have to wait like this. I think I'm just going to keep ringing them do there heads in lol

webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat · 10/01/2024 17:08

Joining this thread if I may. We are into week 21 now. Week 18 would have been from Christmas Day so I understand there would be a delay from that but I'm starting to think no news isn't good news here. What's the longest anyone has waited and been successful?

Thisismyusername1 · 13/02/2024 20:26

Hello wonder if anyone can help. I'm just about to return my child's renewal form (award ends April).
I visited the post office today and wanted to send recorded delivery but was told this wasn't possible as no postcode on envelope.
I've tried googling but cannot find this anywhere.
Has anyone here managed to send recorded? I know I've definitely sent them this way in the pst but the last award was granted three years ago so possible address has changed.
Grateful for any advice
