Sorry this is a tragic story.

yesterday my neighbour was told that her friend's daughter (from just a few doors away) had been killed in a car crash.
She was only 4 and had had luekemia for 3 years and wastold only last week she was 'clear'- then yesterday was taken to the seaside by her grandad along with her 3 year old brother.

on the way back it seems they were hit by an 18yr old lad- one dies and the grandad and brother are still in hospital.

This puts alot in prospective- last night i was furious with Alex (age 5) for pulling off wallpaper in the hallway and Thomas (10 with apergers) for cutting a chunk out of the front of his school sweatshirt - this all seems trivial now as at least they are still here for me to kiss goodnight.

That's too sad.

How terrible

We had a letter from the infant school dd2 and ds1 attend , yesterday, saying that one of the mums is only a couple of days away from dying of cancer. They wanted us to know in case the children wondered why her ds wasn't at school, or they got worried about dying. So awful. My heart goes out to both families.

How sad for a life to be taken so young.

juniper68 · 13/07/2004 20:15

My prayers are with the family and friends

The poor little mite. Hate these stories but, as mrsforgetful says, it really makes you appreciate what you have.

foxinsocks · 13/07/2004 20:22

I remember reading or seeing that story in the news and thinking, how horrendous. I didn't know about the leukemia either (I guess they hadn't released that to the media yet). How awful- it brings it all home when you 'know' the people.

marthamoo · 13/07/2004 20:22

So very sad

foxinsocks · 13/07/2004 20:30

I seem to remember that the bloke who crashed into them was an 18year old in a Honda who was then arrested for some minor traffic offence (think they would only have done this if they had a doubt about his driving). Also, police commended people at the scene who desperately tried to save the 4 yr old.

What's the bet though, that the 18 year old gets off and hardly serves a sentence (if it wasn't an accident). I know all my thoughts are with the family but it's starting to make my blood boil that people get killed in road accidents when its obviously someone elses fault (untaxed, unlicensed etc.) but that they hardly ever get prison sentences because the fact that they have killed someone isn't taken into account.

how sad for their family. How unlucky.

bunny2 · 13/07/2004 21:38

I heard this on the news yesterday and wanted to cry. Poor poor family.

As for the 18 y/o that wiped out a young life, I'd want a harsh sentence. Every day I see yopung men, baseball caps on, driving old Fiestas and haring up and down the road past the playground at ridiculous speeds. Dont care if they kill themselves but killing innocent people especially children is tantamount to murder.

DelGirl · 13/07/2004 21:42

thats just so terrible, poor poor family. How will they ever get over it.
