DLA CLAIM TAKING FOREVER-ANYONE ELSE?

Hi,
I'm new here so sorry if I post in the wrong part. I've had a hunt around and couldn't find what section to post this in.
I just wanted to know if anyone else is waiting for a decision from the dla?
This is my first ever claim for ds who is 6yrs.
I sent my claim pack off at the end of August and havn't heard anything ATALL.
I rang them up 2 weeks ago and they said the claim wasn't on the system yet, then I rang them last week and got put through to the Birmingham office who said they received the claim on the 7th September (was supposed to be back by the 3rd September to be backdated and I stupidly didn't send it recorded). He said I should receive a confirmation letter in the next couple of weeks but surely to hear absolutely nothing for 8 weeks is just crazy???
Anyone else waiting? I am going to ring again on Friday to see if it's moved up in the waiting to be seen list.

Got both receipt and actual confirmation letter through on same day!

there does seem to be a lot of delays at the moment and a huge backlog with the claims taking forever to go onto the system - sent mine back I think 22nd sept and got a letter on 8/10 saying received and heard nothing more since

Firstnamelastname- I think they must leave all their post in a big box somewhere! That's so strange! Atleast u have heard though which is great.
Bjk I think your right about the back log. But Atleast you got a confirmation letter . I literally have had nothing atall . Atleast if I had a confirmation letter I would know it's in the system but I'm worried the bloke on the phone just said they had it in the office to get me off the phone .

when applied for my grandson they were working on 11 week turn around.

I'm a benefits advisor for Age UK and some of my claims have taken far longer recently than usual. 8 weeks is about usual for my area.

Personal Independence Payment applications (PIP) are taking 26-30 weeks to even get to medical stage

Me, sent form on the 17th of September, received confirmation a week later (they received it the next day). They said they will make a decision within 8 weeks.

I hope they don't reject it, I could really do with the money right now. It's my first time and dd is 4. I've sent off her statement, Speech and Lang report, ABA report and her multidisciplinary report. Hope it's enough!

I phoned this morning and got told they have SCANNED my claim onto the system so it shows as being delivered but they have not REGISTERED it onto the system yet and hence no confirmation letter being sent yet.
I got told it will take 8 weeks from when I receive the confirmation letter (which they havn't even sent yet) so it looks I wont be getting a decision for DS this side of xmas!
I understand they are busy but to wait 8 weeks and have no confirmation letter or any correspondence atall seems absolutely shocking to me. I wouldn't mind so much if I knew it had gone to be looked at and was just waiting on a decision!

My son's PIP claim was sent in January - first we heard was early august when he was called in for a medical. We finally heard three weeks ago that he's been awarded it. I remember his first claim for DLA took several months and that was before it got really bad.

Ours is a renewal, not sure if that makes any difference. We have just had our confirmation letter - one full month after they say they received our application. And if takes the 8 weeks from that point to then process it then it means our old DLA will lapse in December before the new one starts. And we also can't renew my DDs blue badge until we get the new DLA so we will lose that too for a while. Very annoying.

I applied in May, got award letter last week. Mine took a while but I didn't sent any supporting paperwork/evidence with it. BUT, I got lots of letters in the mean time saying, thanks for being patient, we're still dealing with your claim, so I knew all along it was being dealt with, and I knew it would b backdated. Can't fault our area at all really. I guess all areas must be different?

fuzzy- 7 months is such a long time to wait. There's been a lot of change to the claims hasn't there but the wait for PIP claims is insane and ridiculous!

moomummy- what a pain that it's going to lapse. Let us know how long it takes for a decision wont you. Hopefully it wont take the full 8 weeks.

frazzled- What area did yours get sent to? Do you know? I'm really hoping for at least a confirmation letter soon. I'm going to ring up every 2-3 weeks I think (probably to be told the same thing every time!)

I live in Northumberland. Apparently we're one of the worst areas

I hope you get sorted soon. I struggle to understand why you haven't even had a confirmation letter.

Update: they have apologised and sent it to be registered as an urgent case. It was sitting in someone's pile and should have been dealt with weeks ago!

Step in the right direction sarah .... at least it will be backdated. Our backdated award was a nice little surprise. As was my backdated carers and backdated tax credits

Pleasantly surprised to have found DLA money in my account. All in all it was within the 8 weeks time frame.

We got our confirmation letter today. And it lasts this time until 2020 so we won't have to go through it all for a few more years - yippee!!

That's great sammy and moo .... remember you might get carers, extra tax credits, and probably other things (must look into it properly myself!)

Did you all get money in your accounts before the award letter arrived? Great news! Really pleased for you both. It's such hassle waiting haha. I can't get tax credits and I'm a full time student so won't get carers either but good luck to all those applying .

Sarah - surely you can get child tax credit? I think that's the bit the disability award is attached to.

I was very impressed that we got Ds's Pip award through this week. It went in in september and we were told it would be six months. He wasn't even called for an assessment!

I just wish that they would send out a receipt letter when they get the form

Youarewinning- no we do not get any tax credits due to DH's income . I think the only way we would be entitled is if DS got high rate care but that won't happen .

Starfish-that's really quick! I'd be impressed with that aswell .

I sent mine off I'm July and got a text in October saying that it will take up to 8 weeks, I called them up this week and they couldn't find my claim on the system.

The woman also said it takes a further 11 weeks to process and get the finance if my application is to be accepted. Surely she can't be serious?

I sent my form off end of October and money went into my account today. They backdated it from the day I rang up for the form.
