I am sorry, I know I haven't posted as much on here lately but I knew some of you would like to know

My daughter Ellie (nearly 5)hasn't been well

she is in Hospital and has been on a ventilator which she came off at around 4am yesterday morning

she was so ill. It is so out of the blue. she was fine Sunday morning, by the afternoon she seemed a little off colour

Then DH went out, she was sick then her eyes went funny. I knew she was having a seizure and was hysterical

rang an ambulance

Grace (her twin) was fantastic, she ran and got me some wipes, got me some shoes so I was ready to go and opened the front door ready. what a star, Im so proud of her

thought we were going to lose her in the ambulance and when we got to hospital they took ages to stabalise her.

she had to be ventilated and 3 medics came from Alder hey to get her to take her back there to ICU

That was horrible, we had to drive in our own car and they overtook us with the lights flashing

Had improved yesterday though. there wasn't a bed for her in Alder Hey when she was ready to leave ICU so we had to come back over to our local hospital

I had 1 hr sleep sunday night so DH has stayed with her (on a ward, own room) Grace is at my Mum and Dads

Just a nightmare. Can't belive we could have lost her again

Still don't know what caused it. They have 99% ruled out her shunt now, she has canula's in her and screamed having them, it is very hard to find a vein as she has been a human pin cushion She is on antibiotica in case she has an infection (Meningitis, ear, chest etc etc)

they are still waiting those results, they take 72 hours

But she is a lot better

Just doesn't stop does it!!!!!

Also as most of you will understnad. We can't leave her at all. Not that we would want to for long! But even to go to the toilet we have had to explain to the Nurse on duty and ask if they can sit with her in case she takes off! So at the mo DH and myself are swapping duties!

Luckily he has a week off as he was going to decorate!

sorry about the long post, I knew some of you wouldwant to know

Thanks

best wishes

anniebear · 12/07/2006 21:21

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages

I never thought for a minute I would get this many

Thank you

Ellie is much better, back to her normal self except for being tired

She is still in hospital, still waiting for test results to see if there was any infection

Has to stay in Hospital still to have the medication through the canular

she did have seizures at 8 months when she had Meningitis then again at 14 months when she developed Infantile Spasms, but has been seizure free since Christmas 2002 and off her meds since Jan 05

still don't know what caused this one, we are hoping it is nott he start of another type of Epilepsy

But at the momsnt she is back to her self!!

Thanks again

xxx

I've just seen this too, how terrifying it must have been, but I'm so glad that she's recovered well and you have her back home again.

Hi annie bear,

so sorry to hear what you have been through, and hope that little ellie is feeling much better. Which neuro are you seeing at alder hey? They are all really fab and the new neuro science dept is really good.

will spell it wrong!!

Mohamad Khalid. we saw him when Ellie was a baby when she was ill. He was the one who said she would be severly brain damaged if she survived...can't wait for him to see her!!

The other day she had just come off the ventilator when he saw her and he said "Ellie Parsons, the cause of all my troubles"!!!

Anniebear, I've only just seen this. Whata relief to have Ellie back to herself. I can't imagine what you've all been through being plunged back into all that terrifying stuff again

merlot · 15/07/2006 21:16
