I didn't know where to put this thread but settled for special needs as that's where it all started.

I know you all probably know how fab she is already but I wanted you all to know how lovely I think she is so....

As you may be aware Aloha is a journalist and she got in contact with me with an idea of interviewing me for a positive article about having a child with DS. We did the piece over the phone and she arrranged for a photographer etc to come round and take pics etc.

That in itself makes her fab in my eyes - to have thought about the idea and to have contacted me about it, but now she has emailed me to say that she will be paid for writing this piece and as a 'thank you' she wants to make a donatin to a DS charity!

So I just wanted to make you all aware of exactly how kind she is and how sweet and to restore some faith in anyone who may have lost a bit recently that there are good, kind people like her in the world.

It made me smile and feel good today - hope it does you.

Thank you Aloha, really, thank you SO much.

Can I join the fan club also? Aloha seems to spend a large amount of her time helping other people. I don't know how you do it aloha

Correct me if I am wrong someone - aloha and motherinferior, aren't you about the only full time journalists to post on here regularly and not get slammed. Well done!

Am sneakily hijacking thread (sorry TC!) to thank Aloha publicly for her help with the tricky writer I was hoping to interview. Bad news: she has just said no, in spite of my every attempt to placate her, include offering her copy approval. She turned all of my arguments around, and it soon became clear that she was never going to do it, and that her apparently positive consideration was not serious. I feel quite let down because I spent MONTHS corresponding with her, reading everything she's ever written & enlisting people to help me get the interview. But I feel certain, thanks to you, that I did EVERYTHING I possible could, even if she ultimately turned me down.

She is great - I agree!!!!

AND when I posted about gloves, Aloha gave my DS some for Xmas! (I'm doing this to ensure your continued blush, Aloha! DS says every day "your DS gave these glubs to me" and then phones him on his 'mobile' to thank him!)

Yes, a thoroughly sporting type who I love to argue with (in the nicest possible way of course)

What a wonderful thread! Aloha and Thomcat you are both fantastic... As I am in the States, I will also not be able to see the issue, anything I can get to online? I am very interested in reading it, I admire so many of the posters here on Mumsnet and I loved hearing this story. It is going to touch many, many people and I am so proud to be able to know you and touch you via the web!! Wish I could say more, there is so much value here for me, so much great information, so many very good laughs--I do enjoy my virtual life here with you when I am able to log in. What a wonderful ackknowlegement and how nice to know that you took the time and have made a difference. Kudos to Aloha and Thomcat then! I will eat coconut in your honor Aloha!
