Easter Holidays

How are your Easter Holidays going so far? The weather has been great, so the kids have lived outside and had picnics for lunch. DS3 who a month ago wouldn't have entertained eating outdoors sat with his siblings and their friend eating sandwiches (a first and NT for my ASD boy!!!) on the climbing frame platform. It was heartwarming to see. Hoping for more firsts over the holidays, he is now giving hugs and kisses - that was my Mothers Day present from him Smile

Yes, we had a good time. Not without some tough moments, but we just accept that's part of life. The DCs were generally pretty well behaved too. I still find it hard when DS struggles with things other kids seem to take in their stride Sad, but he moves on all the time and is a lovely, lovely boy.

I'm not sure what the weather was like earlier on today, but it was at least dry when we got back today. I haven't caught up with what it's going to be like over the weekend. We've got my parents and sister coming for an Easter roast after church on Sunday. My DH will cook as he's so good at it and enjoys it. I'll probably do a pudding which is more my forte. Grin.

SallyBear · 05/04/2012 22:03

Got DH's family over for Easter Lunch. Roast Lamb I think..... Not sure about the pudding, maybe a hot chocolate fudge pudding with custard.....?

Dh home today, aaaah.

Hope everyone has good, peaceful Easters.[busmile]

creatovator · 06/04/2012 19:37

Hot chocolate fudge pudding and custard is just the best!! May we should come to yours Sally..... got room for 7 more?

Easter wishes to everyone. [bugrin]

SallyBear · 06/04/2012 20:59

Ooh that would appeal massively to me as it would be an even number of 14! Must be a latent OCD trait!

creatovator · 07/04/2012 20:33

I've made an apple and rhubarb crumble which we can have with cream or ice cream. I've also bought a cream and jam sponge cake which I will add cream and mini eggs to the top of (bit of a cheat I know [buwink]).

I like even numbers better than odd too, maybe I've got some OCD traits that I didn't know about!

SallyBear · 07/04/2012 21:39

Crumble sounds delish!!!! Have a lovely day with your family. I'm going to slam in the lamb, and pour myself a large glass of Madeira while I try to remember what veg I was going to prepare?!!

Have staggered round garden in wellies, dressing gown and bunny ears, clutching a cup of coffee and hiding eggs and bits of cotton wool (bunny tail) in various nooks and crannies, doing my impersonation of the Easter Bunny.

The dds were deeeelighted!

Going to make a big chocolatey cake with dds, roast dinner and apple crumble for lunch, then flying kites this afternoon.

Ds crawling yesterday, has given us all big soppy grins on our faces, I will lay out a trail of chocolate buttons for him to crawl after later!

Hope everyone has lovely, chocolate filled days!

SallyBear · 08/04/2012 08:21

Hazey. I am so delighted about your news re. DS crawling. My DS3 gave me a bug smile when I came in to get him out of bed, and then a kiss. I heart those precious moments Smile

BTW fair play to you with the Easter Egg Hunt and Bunny impersonation. I am far toooooo lazy this morning to trudge round the garden! [bunny grin]

Hi all, the last week has been a bit chaotic as we had electrician and plasterer, so had to keep ds out of the way... but there have been some lovely bits, yest B and S in law and 3 cousins came for the first time, and ds was fab! Grin Grin I was really nervous, but he managed really well and was happy to see them, Shock and wanted to play, (well wanted to interact, so that will do...Grin).

Today am off to church to sign the service, and lots of baptisms (full immersion) so it will be fun... Grin but ds's one to one helper is on hols, and dh is in lots of pain and not very mobile, so they are gonna stay home Sad Sad.

but we (me and ds) are off on ASD family holiday Tues to Fri, (dh can't go as place they have it has only showers, no baths and dh can't loosen up enough to move without at least one bath a day). bit nervous, as I don't know how it will gop, but also looking forward to it..

Happy Easter to everyone.

SallyBear · 08/04/2012 08:29

Happy Easter Sign. How lovely to have baptisms on Easter Day. Smile
Enjoy your mini break Grin

Happy Easter everyone Smile Thanks.

Just a quick post as I should be ready for church but am still in pjs. Sounds like everyone has great plans for the day. We're doing church, family round for a big roast and then going to a National Trust place to do the Easter Egg hunt.

I've decorated the bought cake with cream and mini eggs Grin Grin.

creatovator · 08/04/2012 09:52

Sign Baptisms are fun! Hope you have a lovely time. Sending prayers for your DH and DS.

intothewest · 08/04/2012 11:01

Hi everyone....sounds like the holidays have been pretty busy everywhere.

Happy Easter (we seem to have ended up with piles of eggs, even though I only got the DCs one each Confused )

We've done some nice stuff.
It was my birthday at the beginning of the week and I went for a night out with friends.DS has a carer now who babysits. It's totally different having someone who I can trust to look after him. Before that I hadn't been out WITH DH for years !!

We've seen family...we stayed in a hotel overnight. DS has been a superstar and taken most of it in his stride [busmile]

I'm doing without DH for a week or so,as he's gone to look after his mum who's had an op

Because of all the excitement and late nights I've given DS a melatonin break....but if last night is anything to go by he's back on it tonight !!

coff33pot · 09/04/2012 12:39

Sorry but the hot chocolate and fudge pudding has drawn me here yummmmmmmm!

Sounds like everyone has had a busy time of it! Glad you had a great time at Disney Creator :)

All ok here. Sunday morning was a picture. I had put the easter eggs by the childrens beds. Usually DS comes running in shouting the bunny has been! Not this time. Got downstairs to see a chocolate plastered face with a big grin on it. Asked him how much he had eaten "ooooh he said half of everything" lets just say he was zoooming on his scooter indoors all day flat lol Grin

SallyBear · 09/04/2012 13:40

I did toy with the idea of taking a picture of the chocolate stash the four of them had accumulated, but I thought that the diet police would be on to me!!

We didn't have the pudding in the end as my well meaning MiL decided (without asking me first) to bring pudding. So it's being made next Sunday!

I have to say Coff it is THE best chocolate pud, as it has it's own sauce underneath the chocolate sponge! GrinGrin. Very popular in the SallyBear household!

OP posts:
EllenJaneisnotmyname · 09/04/2012 13:59

Pudding sounds yummy, but perhaps they'd had enough chocolate!

Coff33, is DS still tinged with blue?

SallyBear · 09/04/2012 14:26

Quite possibly Ellen. More chocolate has just arrived! Groan! What a day to start Weightwatchers!!! Grin

OP posts:
signandsmile · 09/04/2012 14:36

Yay to all the chocolate! Grin Grin, altho we had the classic moment where dh tried to share his egg with ds, and ds cried because he got half, (even though the half he got was bigger than the individual egg of his own he could have had...) Hmm

Sign waves at sally and create we baptised 11 on Sunday, it was fab, a real party! Grin. dh had a nasty fall today, so has gone off to bed, but ds is having the treat of watching numberjacks in bed on mummys dvd player... (I am watching glorious technicolour Ben Hur, while nanny snores in the other chair... Grin).

SallyBear · 09/04/2012 15:07

Wow 11 baptised?!!! When DS4 was baptised he was so phobic about church that I stood outside with him until I could rush in get him baptised and then rush out again. It was a nice service apparently Smile

OP posts:
signandsmile · 09/04/2012 17:54

ouch sally, ds struggles but not to that extent... (he is there with his luminous ear defenders), btw someone took photos for the church website, and he is there with his headphones on... which I think is fab, Grin). On a bad day he is in the foyer, or under his coat, we do get quite loud Grin Blush....not so good for him, but cos we are quite "relaxed" Wink it does work cos he can spin or fiddle or flap and no one bats an eye.... The holiday this week has a group that does worship for/with kids with additional needs / disabilties and one of the mums I know said they were fab with kids with ASD, I will report back...

SallyBear · 09/04/2012 18:03

DS had been fine about church until we gad gone to a christening at St Mary's in Warwick which is a beautiful church with a traditionally loud and booming organ and full choir. Freaked him out, and he is deaf! So you can imagine how he was in our local church for his christening two weeks later! Ooops!

OP posts:
coff33pot · 09/04/2012 19:26

Ellen I scrubbed the last 3 faint splodges of blue off last night in the bath Grin

Tonite is not so good as we got London early hours and DS is both anxious and agitated with it. He has had a scrap with his sister over DVDs she is taking to nannys to watch and decided to fill a huge water pistol and come down and drown us all. Yes you will see the funny side lol but he was furious so when we laughed to try and ease the situation, unfortunately that resulted in a smashed bowl in the kitchen and a few things chucked out the bathroom window.

Difficult to tell him off at the same time know all this is due to the fact he doesnt want to go and is worried. At the moment he is curled up in a fleecy blanket infront of the fire so we have a reprieve at the moment!

I think I will open my easter egg from DH and watch Harry Potter AGAIN with DS that will be 3 hours stress free :)

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 09/04/2012 21:50

Poor old DS, coff33. Hard day tomorrow. He's probably insulted that you found his revenge attack funny. Grin Hope Harry Potter does his magic. X
