I'm not sure who normally starts this off, so apologies if I've inadvertently offended any of the usual MN posters Smile
What a week! Had a lovely weekend with family, saw my Dad who was over from Canada for a flying visit. I wake up at 4am on Monday morning in THE MOST HORRIFIC PAIN (seriously it needed the caps lock for emphasis!). Pain in my LHS kidney area. DH was up at that time to fly off to Germany got three days, so I asked him to get drugs, water and hot water bottle. He left about 4.20 quite worried. By 5 am I knew that the pain wasn't settling down and that I needed to go to hospital urgently. I managed to get him on M25 before he reached Heathrow. He came straight home and my Sister was mobilised to take me to A&E.
The pain turned out to be a kidney stone. It was worse than childbirth, and I've had 4DC! It passed 18 hours later, the size an apple pip.
I was so full of Tramodol that I couldn't do anything until Wednesday. I really don't understand why people take opium based drugs...... Shudder!
DS3 had a general anaesthetic yesterday, and that was the usual stress regardless of it being the 29th time that I've taken one of my kids to theatre. I will never get used to that shaking feeling you get after you've left them prone on a bed.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow, as I have my Maths GCSE lesson and then a girls dinner out with my best friend. Hopefully there won't be any dramas between now and then!!

So sorry Ninja and Becs for your sad news. Sally have you fully recovered yet?
We have staggered on till the end of term. I will be glad of the holiday, though ds has loads of GCSE course work to do so I can forsee lots of nagging. Main downer this week was TAC meeting on Wed. At last one 1 month ago, it was agreed to start arranging a readmission to the Maudsley for ds. On Wed I discover that absolutely nothing has been done. I am still not clear whether this is because the key worker is useless (she is) or because SS and Camhs are arguing about who should fund the discharge care package.

SallyBear · 30/03/2012 20:51

Nohaudin. There is nothing more annoying than leaving something important to be fine in the incapable hands of a chocolate teapot. Hmm
The kidney still feels bruised, and I've two more days of anti-bees. Would kill for a glass of Wine Smile

Evening all

Have just read and instantly forgotten most of the thread, but I'll do my best.

Sally, sounds like you have had the week from hell. Hope you have a nice quiet weekend to make up for it.

Beca, your week also sounds horrid too. Good to hear ds1 is doing well though and very Envy that your holidays have already started, we have just under another week to get through yet and my boys have both had more than enough already.

Sign, Happy Birthday for last week. Glad you enjoyed your break.

Calamity, glad you've had a good week and dd is doing well on her vits etc.

Purple - you do know that if you don't fess up the result of your poas then we will hunt you down and tickle you till you tell! Grin Will keep everything crossed that the right job turns up for you asap to ensure full maternity pay etc. Wink Grin

Ninja, dd's birthday sounds like it was lovely. So sorry to hear your sad news though. Its good that things are sounding positive at the moment. Will keep your family in my thoughts.

DameH - Happy Birthday to your dd2. Hope she has a lovely day - and enjoy your two weeks off all the school related stress.

Chundle, hope you can sort out a gentle introduction to pre-school.

NoHaudin - I can't believe they haven't done anything about your ds's readmission. Angry Hope you can get it all sorted quickly.

We found out on Monday that ds1 is getting his statement. Had an early view of it via email and my relief turned out to be shortlived - its crap - well beyond crap really. There is not one thing that is quantified or specified. Part 2 does not relate in any meaningful way to part 3 and the part 3 provision doesn't relate in any meaningful way to the objectives. Hmm BUT the content is all there - it does cover everything we wanted it to, just not in a way that is enforceable and with no quantification or specification. Pretty much every point needs altering and the overall structure of the document and the way the sections relate to each other also needs addressing. I'm sure it can be sorted, after all we don't want to ask for any more or different provision and we aren't contesting schools, but its going to be a big job.

Also found out today that our LEA count your 15 days from the day they complete typing the proposed draft. They then post it out (in our case the next day) using the slowest postal service they can find (not Royal Mail) so it takes at least a week to arrive. So you've lost a week off your 15 day deadline before your even out of the starting gate. Angry

Ds1 has been a nightmare and we still have a week to go before the holidays. Ds2 has also been a proper grot and dd - well she's 3. All three of them as well as dh and I have had/got a mild coldy virus, that isn't bad enough to justify collapsing or staying off school, but at the same time makes you feel horrible and really tired - hence all the bad tempers.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 30/03/2012 21:23

Moose how frustating about the statement. I know you put loads of work in to the application and now you have to start again. Also isn't strange how they can delay all they like but you don't dare miss a deadline by even one day.

Oblomov · 30/03/2012 21:26

Glad Moose got her draft.
Sally, the recent 'worst pain ever' thread, it noted kidney stone as one of the worst ever. Sorry to tell you, i am drinking your wine!
Dh is out. Gone for a pint with one of his closest friends, who had to be flown home from his honeymoon, because they thought he wouldn't make it, because they found out he is riddled with cancer.
Puts our petty woes, like mine, sat here waiting for my SA request to be refused, (they made the decision wednesday), I just am awaiting letter of refusal. Puts all my complaints into perspective.
We had the loveliest day ever today. easter egg hunt at school, dh playing fottie with both boys in the park, fish and chips eaten in the garden. Ds1 then announced it was rubbish. Miser. he is getting me down at the mo. Hope I last the Easter hols!!

Chundle · 30/03/2012 21:42

Oh dear ob sorry to hear about dhs friend :( how very sad

moosemama · 30/03/2012 21:49

Thanks folks.

NoHaudin, that's it. I am so wound up this evening at feeling impotent and totally lacking in control of this process. They hold all the aces and there's nothing you can do but keep putting one foot in front of the other until you - eventually - come out the other side. Our LEA have so far missed both the deadline to tell us if he was going to be assessed and the deadline to tell us whether or not he was going to get a statement - but can we complain about it? Nope, because that would just give them an excuse to be even less helpful - if that's possible. Hmm

Oblomov - we had a similar afternoon. Went into school to do an activity with ds2, then took the dcs to choose a comic and some sweets as a treat before going to the park, where they were ecstatic to meet up with lots of children from their classes. Came home and on the way ds2 said "thank you for a lovely afternoon Mummy" then almost as soon as we got in the door the bickering started and within an hour the boys had nearly killed each other and both had had a go at me for not getting in the middle of their fight and blaming the other. Finally, I made them their favourite mixed salad for dinner, but their lack of manners and constant bickering at the table pushed me over the edge until I ended up shouting at all three of them and told them that they had all behaved like ungrateful spoilt brats and it would be the last time I put myself out to give them a nice afternoon. Ds1 went to bed in tears, insisting that he didn't want to upset me and didn't understand what he'd done wrong, then when dh went up to see him, he was sobbing his heart out because he truly believed that 'I'll never get to go to the park or have a comic and sweets ever again.'

I am spending tomorrow re-writing the statement, while dh bravely takes all three dcs to visit his parents. Then on Sunday dh and I have a two hour drive to fetch dd's new bed, visiting friends in the area on the way. Unfortunately there will no room for the dcs to come along, so my Mum, bless her little cotton socks, is picking all three up at 10.00 am and will be keeping them until bed-time. Although, dh seems to be rapidly coming down with manflu, so there is the potential there for all that to go belly up. Hmm

moosemama · 30/03/2012 21:50

Oblomov, sorry I missed that line in your post. Sorry to hear about your dh's friend. That's so sad. Sad

Ignore my rant - like you said, hearing things like that puts things into perspective.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 30/03/2012 21:51

oblomov, sorry to hear about your friend, life is very cruel Sad Hope you get them to agree to SA.

Grin

I'm only about 2 weeks so absolutely no getting excited...

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 31/03/2012 10:51

Purplepidjin!!!! Congratulations, lovely. Smile You'll get your head around it.

I went to bed early last night after a 5 hour drive to Cornwall on my own, stuck on the motorway for an hour due to an accident. Too tired to check you all out. I've got 5 days with no kids, they're with dickhead, so instead of moping about, I'm visiting an old friend. Going on a cliff walk today.

Sorry to hear about your BIL, ninja, and oblomov's friend. Sounds like an up and down week for you all, rather too many hospital visits. Kidney stones, yuk. Tramadol, hmm? That's you and Ben10 then, Sally.

Have a good Easter break all.

Ben10NeverAgain · 31/03/2012 10:58

Congratualtions pidjin :)

Sorry I was somewhat out of it last night. On the tramadol again but feel a bit more normal.

DameHermione · 31/03/2012 12:06

SallyBear · 31/03/2012 12:40

moosemama · 31/03/2012 12:46

Ok Pidj, absolutely no getting over-excited, but surely I can be permitted a tiny Grin

PurplePidjin · 31/03/2012 13:24

Yes, moosie, you may squee. I am grinning like a loon when no one's looking. Actually judging from the looks I got in town just now I'm not hiding my grin very well!

I have purchased expensive pregnacare tablets, will be seeing the dr hopefully Monday, then tell the soon-to-be grandparents! DP wants a daughter Hmm

moosemama · 31/03/2012 13:32

I remember when I found out I was expecting ds1. I was in a daze for ages afterwards, really happy but at the same time a teensy bit terrified.

Pregnacare they remind me of morning sickness - sorry, that's probably not all that helpful is it? Grin By the time I had dd, I'd discovered the Sanatogen ones, which were much easier to stomach (and there not the size of horse pills, unlike pregnacare).

Aw, dp will be happy with whoever he/she turns out to be - as long as they share his love of VWs of course! Wink

You'll have to get a Type 2 with a twin passenger seat like our old tintop now, so you can all sit up front together. Grin

PurplePidjin · 31/03/2012 13:49

I just bought what was in Holland and Barrett - less likely to run into anyone I know!

I think dp is secretly planning which car seats fit in a classic beetle at the moment. We have no plans to get rid of either car Grin

You coming to vwaction southwest in a couple of weeks?

Becaroooo · 31/03/2012 14:16

purple Many congrats!!! Smile

NoHaudinMaWheest · 31/03/2012 14:28

PurplePidjin · 31/03/2012 14:32
moosemama · 31/03/2012 14:35

Nope sorry Purple, we have Legoland booked in soon and then a 3 day music festy in May and I'm not doing all that well health wise at the mo, so having to pace myself and rest most weekends.

We'll manage that meet up - one day!
