If so, how are you all doing?

Life at chez sign is doing ok, huge amounts of PGCE homework Sad and the OU year is gearing up, so lots of student stuff too.

Am feeling really snowed under, but, ds has been doing well at school this week and has sucessfully been in assembly (yay!) Grin. We are off to the cafe at the church (lovely, quiet, run by volunteers) tomorrow with a little friend from school and his mum, (ds has a friend, Grin Grin) ).

Ooh, Wilson, you've given me an idea! No not eating a decent meal naked, but when I was single - even when DS1 was young, I used to do the ironing to ABBA gold on full volume - in the hope it would drown out me singing along. That was the last time I used to enjoy ironing.
C'mon Ellen - think up something good for the weekend, what did you used to enjoy doing before Dickhead? Got to have some guilty pleasures lurking somewhere Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 17:39

I've just googled Didicar! Looks ace! No pedals. It took DS2 ages to learn how to pedal, then he went and did it at school and the first time I saw him pedalling was on The Politics Show where I'd done an interview about inclusion and maintaining special schools and they'd filmed him in the playground.

intothewest · 06/01/2012 17:40

Right,I'm off. DD is home so I'll let her have a go on the computer.I might pop back later.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 17:41

Guilty pleasures usually involved curry and sex, TBH. (Not both at the same time!) Not quite ready for the sex yet. Grin

intothewest · 06/01/2012 17:42

WOW ,ellen ...fame

ok, had to googled didicar. Very nice - DH & I are going to have to think about those!! Grin

intothewest His counselling doesn't start until next month, but he has really been making an effort to maintain his temper and treat us all better. Massive improvement over the last few days (which is a plus as they've been pretty stressful for me anyway due to lack of sleep!). He's commented that he can see DS2 reacting better to it, so hopefully this will continue. I'll be very disappointed if he lets it slide, now that I know he can make the effort. It was our wedding anniversary two days ago and I got the impression from some things he said that he had realised that this is our marriage on the rocks and it needs to be a priority. Smile

signandsingcarols · 06/01/2012 18:17

good news, triggles

Triggles · 06/01/2012 18:18

yes, now if I could just get DS2 to stop changing the language on his 3DS to FRENCH!!! "but it's more FUN that way mummy!"... have I mentioned that none of us speak French!!??!! Hmm

coff33pot · 06/01/2012 18:19

glad to see a friday night thread! missed it over xmas Smile

Evening to all!

I am going out though. This never happens and its not very adventurous really. Old reunion of a sunday school and church I used to go to as a child so it will be funny looking at old memorabilia of my siblings and me!

Down week this week, eldest DD grandad died and unfortunately we had the turmoil of going up there for funeral and as it was ex dh side of things and they have ignored her for 20 of her 22 years (apart from this man) it was kind of an emotional rollercoaster for her. It was also her birthday the day before which was hard so we have all decided that our christmas and new year and birthday celebrations start tomorrow all over again and are going out for a meal :)

DS first 3 mornings of school have passed by without to much of a hic cup. His new friend Harry was invited in to play with him during playtime so I think the school now got the message that I want this to happen. Looking at him coming to play again next week :)

Have a great evening all!

Triggles · 06/01/2012 18:24

coff33pot so sorry for your loss... we haven't explained to DS2 & DS3 about DH's father dying 2 years ago or my father last year. Not a clue how to explain it without frightening DS2. sigh.. DS3 is simply too young to understand anyway.

Glad that things with Harry are going well. Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 18:28

Your poor DD1, coff33! Sad About time things started improving for her. How's she doing healthwise?

So glad Harry is still on the scene. He doesn't have any idea how popular he is on MN SN!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 18:30

Sign, I'm not sure if I'd get away with redistributing Dickhead's CD collection, really. He's still not got over the bike and bike rack incident! Blush

signandsmile · 06/01/2012 18:31

coff ditto the stuff with harry, (I think ds might be developing a harry of his own... am holding breath.)

and sorry to hear about the last week, Sad

signandsmile · 06/01/2012 18:33

ellen that's ok Wink. I did laugh at the bike,,, Grin

coff33pot · 06/01/2012 18:40

Ellen maybe one day I will show him when he is older just how popular he is and how grateful I am that he befriended DS Smile

Healtwise DD is stable at the moment. Its heartbraking if I am honest because her life has been such an emotional rollercoaster from not being wanted when she was small (not by me I might add!) to being desparate to have what she knew was her "own family" as a teenager and being shunned to suddenly being contacted out of the blue. Then the nightmare she experienced as you are aware of...This grandad meant a lot to her as he was her only contact. As you can imagine its the whole not wanted thing popping its head and desparately wanting to say goodbye but having to face a usless dad and the only "remember when" memories they could pop up was when she was in nappies so that pulled on heart strings just a tad, and then on her birthday to make it worse my inlaws of 15 years decided to forget her birthday this year using the excuse she is older and doesnt pop round as much so I am disgusted with them too as they new xmas day how upset she was over this. Angry along with all the personal stuff its no wonder she isnt getting better faster but she will get there in the end and DH is and always has been a great dad to her. Me I am just getting greyer faster Grin

coff33pot · 06/01/2012 18:41

sign oooh! keep us posted on DS new pal! Grin thats great!

Chundle · 06/01/2012 18:43

Hi all nice to see you all survived the xmas madness! The minichundles are driving me insane. Dd1 is still madly hyper from xmas and I've to get her eyes tested tomoz which should be interesting... Dd2 has some new words 'no way' when I want to change her nappy and " ohhh sake" usually followed by a loud tut when something doesn't go her way :) currently awaiting app for ados for dd2. Currently wishing they would just section me to give me a break and some sleep :)

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 06/01/2012 18:56

evening all, nice to see our fridays back now things have settled after the christmas chaos Smile

coffee, give your dd a hug from us, that sounds rotten, hope she's better soon.

ellen, chuck the smiths over here, I'll gladly make that as round as the bike wheel Grin

triggles, good to hear things are looking better with dh.

good week here, dcs were back at school on wednesday, ds2 at preschool thursday so managed a bit of piece and quiet which was much needed. Hopefully I stand a chance of getting the house back to the usual chaos at some point next week!

Sign A215 Creative Writing. Am loving it but it's very fast paced. but it will be worth it when I write my novel and achieve world domination

moosemama · 06/01/2012 19:10

Evening folks

Shan't be staying long as yet again I have a killer headache, but wanted to come and say hi on our first Friday night thread of 2012.

No new news here really, still not 100% post lumbar puncture, but have been well supported and looked after between Mum and dh this week, so at least haven't had to do any school runs or cooking - or even sitting up for that matter! The stress seems to have triggered some sort of relapse unfortunately, so I have been pretty much good for nothing.

Ds1 has settled back in at school well though, in spite of everything being chaotic at home with me being out of action.

The LEA have missed their deadline for informing us of their SA decision by almost a week. Hmm Wasn't a bit surprised, especially as they set the deadline on 2 January! Am pretty sure they will just cite the holidays as the reason for the delay if I call them. I'm giving them a week and a half's grace so they have no excuses left and will start bugging them when the rest of my brain tests are over next Wednesday.

I did try to read everyone else's posts, but retained almost nothing, so I hope everyone is having a better start to the new year than me. Grin

Just read my own post and realise it all sounds pretty negative - sorry - but I am ok, honest and still determined not to let it get me down.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 06/01/2012 19:20

Hiya, Chundle. I am liking, ooh sake!

Ninja, I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the Smiths a little, hmm, self indulgent?? Grin (This from an old head banger.)

Moose, glad to see you. Hope that lumber puncture is getting better.

Wilson, are you getting any tutoring in creative sarcasm and witty ripostes? Or are you tutoring them? Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 06/01/2012 19:31

wilson, when you're master of the universe can you zapp my lea please Grin

moose, hoping for a speedy recovery for you Smile

ellen, according to dh it's that I just don't get it Hmm This is the man who is currently watching wet wet wet on you tube and singing along [sigh]

Peaceflower · 06/01/2012 19:33

Hi, can I join in? I don't often post but today my 14 year old dd started school at an independent ASD school, after being out of school for 18 months. It took 4 hours to get her out of the house, 1 hour of sitting in the school car park before she entered the school [phewwwww]. I am stressed beyond belief.

Let's hope Monday is easier.

signandsmile · 06/01/2012 19:34

wilson, sounds fun! i am enjoying my pcge, but am wincing at the work load, Hmm
