Hello everyone :)

How's you week been?

OP posts:
graciousenid · 27/05/2011 18:44

.... and barely 2yo dd2 has started nursery with ds & is doing brilliantly, miles ahead in language, self care & socially despite being youngest by far (thanks to the ABA I'm sure) etc etc everyone loves her ... all I can think is it isn't fucking fair ... why can't ds have some of those advantages. Now dh, MIL & my mum think I'm a complete bitch. Obviously I'm not there with this acceptance shit.

asdx2 ... pathetic commiserations ... it sounds unbearably stressful :(

madwomanintheattic · 27/05/2011 18:46

so difficult to tell, isn't it? at least with physical stuff you can make an attempt to play scientist.

enid, iphones and dhs are a dreadful combination. hope you manange to find a replacement soon - you could do without that right now! might be worth holding off on the potty training. lots of changes coming up which will ruin routine anyway? might be easier on you to delay further?

thanks Lenin he's 4.5 (getting on for 4 & three quarters) ... ironically my lovely fabulous tutor is the one behind tutorfinder but he's overworked & we're not getting as many hours as we need. I've hit a wall I think.

Glad to hear there have been some good things this week - and sorry so many seem to have had rubbish weeks. Gracious - the dual carriageway thing sounds terrifying! And Lenin, I agree - it's nothing you've done which has triggered it. Mad - yay for DS, cooperative definitely helps!

We've had some progress with 2yo DD who may or may not have CP managing to pick something up off the floor when standing and return to standing which is just fantastic!

ooo, that is good, galena! dd2 couldn't stand at 2, let alone try and get anything from the floor - well done minig!

smugtandemfeeder · 27/05/2011 19:33

Hi all,

Still catching up with all your news.

Have had a fairly difficult week. DH working all week whereas normal only works two days, plus childminder cancelled the one day of childcare we have so I am exhausted.

Private psych report I have been chasing for months finally arrived and he is obviously pissed off with me as he has now changed the diagnosis from childhood anxiety to a working diagnosis. Perhaps I am reading his letter with my own spin on it though. Generalised anxiety of childhood just sounds like such a wussy thing and what we have at home is just not a wussy thing.

My grandma is 83 and even she said today "thats part of his illness" when he did something odd. She said the magic words he'll grow out of it but when I said that he wouldnt and that they think he has mild autism she nodded and said "not very mild though is it" Grin my only relative who gets it!!

madwomanintheattic · 27/05/2011 19:34

sage grandma. Grin

smugtandemfeeder · 27/05/2011 19:48

Oooh other exciting news is that smugtandemfeeder is currently not tandem feeding. DS who has been obsessed obsessed obsessed with breastfeeding has not fed for three days. I always wanted to let him self wean, mainly because he screams so much and its the only thing which seemed to comfort him. Anyway his sister was ill last week and I said that maybe if he fed he might get ill too. He seems very happy to have chocolate buttons instead and doesnt seem at all upset that he isnt feeding. Perhaps because he thinks it was his idea not to do it.... (pathological demand avoidance.....)

It hasnt helped his sleep at all. He still comes in screaming at 2am and still gets up at 4am so at least DH can see that I wasnt causing his not sleeping!

I know pride comes before a fall in the special needs world and I am very much tempting fate by announcing it here but 3 days without is the best result so far so I will be a smug mother of a self weaning child if it continues!!

Most exciting!

Yay Lenin. How did your DS decide to stop?

I know DS has a way of tricking us he is doing something though so he was almost fully potty trained for 3 days then he just stopped.

I thought I would be sad but im so so so happy. I didnt want him to breastfeed forever but I didnt want to have to make him stop. He just seemed to want to feed more and more and more til it was getting ridiculous.

At least hopefully I can finally enjoy feeding the baby. I have felt like someone was abusing me everytime they fed recently. So weird.

Becaroooo · 27/05/2011 20:16

So sorry some of you have had such a bad week Sad
indigo Well done!
asdx2 How awful! You must be at the end of your tether Sad
gracious God, its hard isnt it? Ds1 used to do the same with me wrt nursery...its heartbreaking but, like you, if I hadnt had the break I would have lost the plot Sad ds1 wasnt potty trained til he was nearly 3...how old is your ds???

Ds1 had his first AIT appt today and it went well. Its going to be a hard week for us but hopefully will be worth it.

Friends wedding tomorrow Smile That should cheer me up!

Becaroo - well done for starting AIT! We found it a very hard 10 days... But absolutely worth it :)

Have fun at the wedding

Sympathies to the rest of you who need them.

Smug - how DS weans now. Sounds like you could really do with that.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I disappeared from this section, busy few months.

I've handed in all my uni work Grin

I START MY FIRST PROPER JOB ON JUNE 6TH!!!!

It's a 4 day job in Southport as a camera operator (something college lecturers said I'd never do due to my sight - HA!) My lovely friend who I did voluntary camera work for last year was my reference, and he's told them about how my sight doesn't affect my work rate or work ethic, so I can just relax and not have to worry about telling people :)

I'm so proud of myself. I'll be getting the train alone, staying away from home for 5 nights and working for 4 days Grin

But.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

A lot of people have really wound me up and rained on my parade today. Just laziness about helping set up our end of year show and being arrogant and only caring about themselves. That's been the case all year but today for some reason it's really annoyed me. And my friend, who was my reference for my job, got told by a lecturer his opinion didn't matter (he's on of our technicians at uni, helps with all camera stuff etc). That made me even more agnry!

I was supposed to be going out tonight but a lot of the people from uni who annoy me will be there and today I just don't trust myself to not give them a piece of my mind in public. Not. In. The. Mood. To. Be. Sociable. So I'm staying in and chilling out.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 27/05/2011 20:28

Evening all, it sounds like it's been a busy week for most of you, if not very productive for some. Sad

DS2 has returned safely from his Y6 residential trip unscathed and beaming! He managed to capsize his 4 man canoe containing the Y5 teacher, much to the rest of the classes amusement. Grin

We are off to Turkey very, very early tomorrow (despite volcanic ash worries) so won't be around for a bit. Got to finish packing now. Hopefully DS2 won't be too exhausted (and grumpy.) And please don't tell the burglars. (Am trying not to look at the terrible weather forecast of max 19*C and heavy rain.)
