I didn't know starlight's backstory. I just thought, what a great school! It was too good to be true, then. Well done Star.

Ineedalife · 04/03/2011 20:12

pain, cramps, falling over nothing at all, legs giving way.....you could be describing my ds moosemamma, and stop feeling guilty about not getting him checked earlier, it takes time for these things to get pieced together, even by the "medical professionals" - no cynism in respect of medical professional on my part....much Grin

SparkleRainbow · 04/03/2011 20:16

starlight Those are freaky in a really fun way.....

moosemama · 04/03/2011 20:20

Starlight, I can't decide whether they're funny or creepy!

Sparkle, thank you. He has a GP appointment booked next week anyway as a follow up to his recent spate of exhaustion etc. I will definitely be raising this now. Of course they'll probably pat me on the head, patronise me and try to fob me off - again! I'm sure there's a flashing light on my dcs' files that says 'Warning - fussy mother - googles too much - humour, then eject!' Hmm Grin

SparkleRainbow · 04/03/2011 20:22

Exhaustion is another symptom by the way.... Sounds like you have a plan moosemamma.

moosemama · 04/03/2011 20:26

Not a plan exactly, more like a large, steel-capped butt kicking boot! Grin

Carrot - yes please to the loan of your pointy stick - then I can use it on both the Assessement Unit and the GP. Grin

Ooo - actually, if I could keep it until the end of the month, I could take it with me to ds1's IEP review as well!

Thecarrotcake · 04/03/2011 20:27

Star- that is great news! ( hope they keep it up for you)

Sign- < passes tissues, clear fluids and a hot toddy> and well done in having the day off!

Moose- don't feel bad, I'll do that for you, because I feel awful! Dd is seven and although I knew she was bendy, because me and the boys are I didn't think much of it until she was in pain a lot.

Sparkle- dd hits 8/9 on the beighton and two majors and some minors on the Brighton :(

thanks for the links x

Busy with uni stuff, but having a girly weekend away in April with my best mates. To run down the list:

LV: visually impaired
KP: has an artificial leg
JH: Brittle bones
JT: Also has brittle bones
HB: CP
CL: Also has CP.

So, we're quite a group, get a few looks when we go out together but always have fun, so don't really care what anyone thinks :) We're just staying in a local hotel, going for a meal and bowling, but after, there will be alcohol! This is the one group of friends I can talk to about sight related stuff, DLA etc and it not seem weird, I love my friends :)

In other news, stupid industry days at uni, a good few professionals saying you can't make it in media industry if you don't drive, and to go and learn now. I would if I could! Angry

SparkleRainbow · 04/03/2011 20:31

There is your dx carrot!!

Can I borrow that pointy stick too!!! Got some LA and doctors I could use it on.

SparkleRainbow · 04/03/2011 20:32

LV can I just add DISCRIMINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arghh

Glass of Wine anyone? Grin

Thecarrotcake · 04/03/2011 20:33

Ooops Blush hi ellen nice to see a new face :)

I keep meaning to add a "hi" to you :)

moose , my pointy stick is on it's way, careful though the jabbing end is sharp, you need lots of repetative jabs to cure the most hardy proffesional, but just a couple of prods works well on the weak willed!

Spinkle · 04/03/2011 20:38

Hello all.

Too tired for coherence. Hope week hasn't been too trying.

moosemama · 04/03/2011 20:45

Thanks Carrot. I think they're all going to need a few jabs to be honest.

LollipopViolet · 04/03/2011 20:47

Sparkle, to be fair, I want to go into video editing, where you don't have to drive, but I think it was bad form for the speakers to assume that everyone who didn't drive just hadn't learnt yet. Still, I know the sector I want to go into doesn't need it, so I just smiled and nodded!

HelensMelons · 04/03/2011 20:49

lol spinkle, that made me laugh! more wine then I think .. and sweets x

SparkleRainbow · 04/03/2011 21:00

But you know LV, what if a visually impaired person wanted to report the news, why should their sight stop them, or their driving for that matter, it is not like we live in a society limited by lack of options and possibilities.....sparkle climbs off soap box, had too much Wine to stay on and is feeling giddy with the altitude.

Just would like everyone to have a fair chance on this Friday night!

Glad you just smiled and nodded though LV Grin

EllenJane1 · 04/03/2011 21:05

Hi all. Thanks for the welcome . Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Just been on the phone for an hour to a lovely old school friend who has finally got engaged to live in lover of past 10 years. She's invited us all to a wedding in September! So excited! Wonder how DC will cope? Have opened the fizzy Wine

signandsmile · 04/03/2011 21:05

sign slides a furry blanket to spinkle, would pass the 'slanket' but I'm in it. Blush

Got an unexpected afternoon off tomorrow, (lad (20 yrs old) who does four hours a week for us with ds can't do next Sat, when we needed him Hmm, but can do tomorrow, so have said yes, but now am balancing desire for an afternoon in bed (with the ear plugs in, as ds and lad will be down stairs) with the knowledge that house looks like tip....

Hmmm, return of the guilt goblins I think, Grin.

I hope the referrals/appointments get sorted out for those of you who are waiting.

But not this week, eh?

bigcar · 04/03/2011 21:13

sign and spinkle, hope you're both feeling better soon

LollipopViolet · 04/03/2011 21:15

Grrr. Just been onto my Flickr account. I've got referrals from a site I've personally never linked the photos on. It's a very well known ice hockey site, but the fact is, their forum is completely secret to non members, and I couldn't have posted the link.

So who did, and have they taken credit for my photos?

I've got a friend searching out for me. I don't mind links to my photos, but I prefer posting them or at least being able to identify myself as the photographer! Grrr.
