I'll start.....

My DD managed to get the lid off a tomato ketchup bottle tonight. Been showing her for years and now she's managed it herself!

We have been told about 2 new appts. recently that are coming up in March that we have been waiting ages for - ENT and re-assessment with Physio and OT. [breaks out into the hallelujah chorus]

They couldn;t cut all ds3's SLT as they wished becuase when they did the formal assessment he failed to comply and came out way below what he could do.

My son had a friend home from school tonight and did not scream once. They had a lovely time together. I feel relaxed Smile

rebl · 27/01/2011 18:55

Great borderlass Smile.

My ds has been taken onto a specialist CAMHS team caseload today Smile.

Ds2 was talking to me on the way into town today (he's off school until tomorrow).
It was "banana, apple, banana, apple, banana, apple" Grin.

DD is finally being seen by the SLT in school tomorrow after almost a year of fighting with them to not just abandon her as she is not in their top worst x% and those are all they apparently are going to deal with Hmm. It's been nearly 2 years since she actually had any therapy from the NHS. Spoke to the SLT on the phone yesterday who is taking over and she has been made aware of the stack of paperwork now in place for DD and think she is realising she will have a hard time backing out of therapy from here. Wish us luck still though!

signandsmile · 27/01/2011 19:04

Good luck!!

IndigoBell · 27/01/2011 19:06

Worked out how to feed DD Omega fish oil (put it on tuna ) - and I really really really think it and reflexology may be working......

IndigoBell · 27/01/2011 19:07

Rebl - how's the school move going?

bigcar · 27/01/2011 19:09

donkeyderby · 27/01/2011 19:35

DS may just be doing a poo on the toilet after a bout of constipation/shitting in nappy

ethel1 · 27/01/2011 19:37

A Smile for all the mums of special kids ,
for their extra patience, understanding, sense of humour (because you can't get by without it).
especially after 17 years of nursery rhymes.
coping with the unexpected, and anything else you might want to add !

Spinkle · 27/01/2011 19:38

Lovely news all!

My DS going GF/CF seems to be really really helping him. New language, more smiling, receptive language better.

starfish71 · 27/01/2011 19:40

DS2 (thanks to this forum) and I have been using the calendar to make off days before bed and talking a bit about the day. This morning he came down stairs and said - two days of school then saturday?

So so pleased finally starting to understand days and how many etc.

Made me smile all day (and thats a good achievement at the moment...)

newlife4us · 27/01/2011 19:52

Big yay to everyone - great news!

Rebl - please let us all know how it goes tomorrow. It's getting quite awkward doing my daily tasks with my fingers crossed! Really hope it goes well.

1980Sport · 27/01/2011 20:54

Lots of good news everyone!

DS finally stood for the physiotherapist, he's being doing it at home for weeks but has made a liar out of me at the last lot of physio sessions. But he did it, yay! I resisted a 'I told you so' look!

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 27/01/2011 21:08

Lovely thread - great idea! And lots of good news! Grin

Am so proud of DS at the moment. He finally seems to be getting the whole potty thing at the tender age of 6! Still having a few accidents but amazing progress!

And his eating since Christmas is just amazing. He's gone from only eating about 3 or 4 foods to literally eating everything! He even asked for more mushrooms last night before his ice-cream!

intothewest · 27/01/2011 21:58

Have to post on this thread ! Well done all the dcs and their brill parents for helping them get there

well ds is still progressing 'loo wise' (I won't go in to detail)A couple of weeks ago he wrote his name !!!!!

(I could read it ,anyway)
