Got one of these for DD for Christmas (chanced upon it in a big sports shop and she was riding it round and round the shop!) and she LOVES it. Is low slung so she feels really confident and can put her feet down to stop herself (never really got the hang of brakes anyway). Just thought I would post here in case it might help someone else.

brioche, how big is the trike? my ds is a smallish age 7 and this looks great

Ineedtinsel · 04/01/2011 14:23

Wow that looks great, another alternative is to take the pedals off an ordinary bike and turn it into a balance bike.

Children with poor balance enjoy riding like this as they can keep their feet near to the ground and only have to steer.

DD HAAAATED the balance bike!! She is a tall 6 year old but it is supposed for ages 5+ and up to 73 kilos so weight is no issue.

thanks- will investigate

Thanks brioche, dd1 (7) can ride a bike, i tried her on a low down trike (similar to the one you linked to) in toysrus yesteday and she still struggled to push the pedals, we can't even get her to sit on a balance bike. We had Tom-cat come out to try a trike and she loved it but we could not get funding because we cant get an appointment for the pead or OT (they need to write a letter) and the GP thinks there is nothing wrong with her (even though she has a dx of AS).

Is there any shops that stock this so we can try it out?

Ment 'dd1 cant ride a bike' Grin.

Unfortunately don't know as we got it in Decathlon in France. They have Decathlon in the UK, don't they? You could try their website, perhaps?
