Bless him, he was told he would never make it because of his arm and he made it through to bootcamp.

I did, and I thought he was FAB! He had a lovely voice.

RTKangaMummy · 24/09/2005 22:36

Daniel iirc

great voice and lovely personality too

deffo brill

chonky · 24/09/2005 22:36

I saw that too, I was willing them to say yes He sang so well, I'm so glad he made it through.

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 22:37

me and Dh were trying to work out if he was affected in his legs at all (sounds mean, but with kids with CP ourselves we tend to do that) as its very rare for CP just to affect one arm.

I cried.

I think he was walking normally Sparkly.

Lillypond · 24/09/2005 22:40

Ah yes, I saw him. Made me feel really emotional.

Getting a bit cheesed off with the way the show takes the piss out of some people, and it was really great to see this lad come out tops.

Hope he gets to the live shows

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 22:40

didn't see much of him walking so am not sure. I thought he was fab.

expatinscotland · 24/09/2005 22:40

They didn't show him walking from far off.

He had a lovely voice and very expressive eyes.

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 22:42

I am glad that the judges saw beyond the disability. Its his dream and he is making it happen, makes me think that my kids will be able to too.

He had talent, sparkly. It seems he'd make a fine actor - he was expressive.

MarsLady · 24/09/2005 22:44

he had a fab voice. I was really hoping he would cos I didn't want them to put him through with the sympathy vote.

His voice was lovely. He got praise from Simon and Simon only praises the good ones (not like Louis and Sharon who sometime put people through cos they know it'll wind him up lol)

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 22:45

He said he went for a part in Oliver when he was 7 and they turned him down because of his disability Surely the fact that he is talanted should be the winning factor.

OP posts:
Lillypond · 24/09/2005 22:49

Not sure about that really. Maybe he just wasn't suitable for the part or someone else was more suitable. I'd like to see more disabled people playing disabled parts though instead of able bodied actors getting them.

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 22:51

Has anyone seen Inside I'm dancing???

OP posts:
Lillypond · 24/09/2005 22:52

Don't think so, no.

expatinscotland · 24/09/2005 22:53

We thought Inside I'm Dancing was fab! It was a real pleasant surprise, b/c we got it from one those online trials where they send you DVDs free for a month.

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 22:58

I thought the actors were disbaled but I have just read up on it and they aren't its a great film though.

The chap who played Rory is Scots. One of our Irish lecturers, however, said he is the only non-Irish person she's heard besides Daniel Day-Lewis who has mastered the accent.

sparklymieow · 24/09/2005 23:01

Dh thought it was going to boring but he watched it with me and liked it too.

His cp is irrelevent. His voice is good enough or it is not. I HOPE he made it thru purely on the fact he's got a good voice (I think his voice was really good). If he had been crap, I would have been horrified if they had put him thru.

I hope that he is not patronised or given sympathy votes cos that is bloody insulting. If he continues thru it should be purely on the strength of his vocals, his cp should be a non-issue. Any 'sympathy victory' is meaningless.

Lillypond · 24/09/2005 23:19

M2PW - absolutely agree. Positive discrimination is still discrimination and so, so patronising. He got through because of his talent and personality. I think it's great that he wasn't overlooked because of his disability.

RTKangaMummy · 26/09/2005 10:27

Daniel was on GMTV and when they asked him about his difficulties he said something like he didn't look at things like "I can't do that" because he said that if you think you can't do something you won't try or be able to.

misdee · 26/09/2005 10:34

i saw him on x factor, and he did say he was told he wouldnt look good on stage. he had an amazing voice, very strong and 'mature' for someone his age. i hope he continues to do well at bootcamp and gets onto the live shows.

sweetheart · 26/09/2005 10:35

I do think he had a good voice - nothing amazing though. He was good enough to get through to boot camp but not good enough for the live shows I don't think.

I hope the fact he has cp doesn't mean he get through on sympathy votes. It will be Gareth Gates all over again!!!

potty1 · 26/09/2005 10:55

He had a lovely voice, nice personality and lovely brown eyes. Great choice of song too
