It's my birthday

It's my birthday and I'm feeling quite down.

Not a single thing to look forward to in the coming year.

I'm not 'down' enough to talk to a doc. But it is affecting me.

Anybody here able to cheer me up?

Happy birthday!

I'm a bit rubbish today too. We could whine to each other, perhaps.

What's got you down? Anything in particular or just the whole package?

bigcar · 13/09/2010 09:21

happy birthday Smile

I prescribe large doses of chocolate, cake and wine, as this is on prescription it should not be consumed in any part by small children or anyone not named on said prescription Grin

My cheering-up skills are hopeless aren't great but I hope your day gets better. xx

sumum · 13/09/2010 09:26

Happy Birthday IndigoBell.

Anything you want to talk about here.

A year is a long time - can you plan anything to cheer yourself up and look forward to?

Evening out with friends, Christmas with family, retail therapy (online if necessary)???

Happy Birthday xxx

You share your birthday with Shane Warne, Michael Johnson, Christine Arron, Jacqueline Bisset and one of the guys from the village people if that makes you feel any better.

If not, I suggest cake and coffee :)

ShadeofViolet · 13/09/2010 09:51

Ooh and Roald Dahl :o

IndigoBell · 13/09/2010 10:15

Thanks guys.

You have cheered me up. You see I do have friends - even if I don't know who you are and wouldn't recognize you if I met you on the street :)

Last year I booked and paid for 2 holidays which we didn't go on because we realized DS1 would be so anxious that it would ruin the holiday ( We realized this after going away for a dreadful weekend.)

So my normal trick of planning a holiday to have something to look forward to won't work.

I'm meant to be trying out for a choir tomorrow - but I feel too down to do that. I know that it is exactly what I need to do. But I've never sung in a choir before and am not sure if I'm good enough, so it's quite a stressful thing to contemplate.

I've promised myself that if choir isn't right for me I'll make myself go back to toastmasters which I used to absolutely love.

So, I know what I need to do. I just need to get over this 'blip' so I can go out and do the things I need to do to get over this 'blip' :)

Happy Birthday

Go for the choir, I used to sing in one and it's great, especially when you're feeling down.

auntevil · 13/09/2010 10:27

A big happy birthday to you IndigoBell Smile if you do go and try out for the choir - remember that all your SNmumsnet friends will be willing you on. Let us know how you get on.

SparkleRainbow · 13/09/2010 10:30

I love singing, and have been in many choirs over the years, the great thing about choirs is that you can join in and add your voice, but no-one can specifically hear your voice. Go for it.

I help out with a choir at dc school and I love it.

coppertop · 13/09/2010 10:30

LOL at sharing a birthday with one of the Village people. Imagine the choir looking like this and you'll have no problem. :o

niminypiminy · 13/09/2010 10:35

Happy Birthday

Do go for the choir, I sing in one and it's an absolute lifesaver. When I'm singing I can't worry about anything and all that deep breathing is really good for you.

I'd like to give you a present, too, an imaginary box full of sunshine and the sounds of a peaceful summer's day.

IndigoBell · 13/09/2010 11:00

Double thanks everyone.

I now feel able to try out for the choir. :)

Hopefully will post back tomorrow with 'I'm in'.
